| Yep you messed up and horns will grow from your head for chaeting you don't seem to understand how Atkins works so I'd suggest you go to the library and check out DR ATKINS NEW DIET REVOLUTION the 2002 edition or go to a used book store and buy one should be under $% for the paperback so you know what you are doing. Since you said your mother will not let you stop drinking milk I'm guessing you are a young teen. Calcium is important and there are many ways to get calcium if you choice your foods wisely like your allowed dairy and your veggies and protein sources. What has your doctor said about your weight and low carbing? Since you are not fully grown you have specail nutritional needs right now and need to make sure you are getting an adaquate supply of them so you become the person you were ment to be. Are you taking your vitamins? What are you doing for the execise part of your Atkins?

| Stop making the boo-boos NOW! You really must read how to do this diet properly and safely. Otherwise, you might not lose the weight you want and your health might suffer. These links will help you abit, while you get the book 2Big referred to. The Rules of Induction: What are the Rules of Induction? The Induction Acceptable Foods List: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard....read.php?t=6781 Please understand, while ADBB is here to offer you support and to explain things in the book you might find confusing, we are no substitute for reading the book yourself.

Nuts are not allowed generally. You might add about an ounce of macadamias, but usually, nuts are allowed when you enter the nut rung in WOL (that's the ongiong weightoss phase following induction). And peanuts are not allowed on induction. Not because of their caloric content but because these are legumes, which may trigger allergies and have a higher content of carbohydrates. So peanuts would have to wait until the legumes rung. Milk has an awful lot of carbs (milk sugar). On induction, you are supposed to eat protein (meat, fish, poultry, and very few dairy products (check the list - no milk) and veggies. In addition, many people have allergic reactions to dairy products, too. Please, read the book, and hand it to your mother, too, so she can understand the dynamics of Atkins. yemenitegreen

| Here is where I play a bit of dad, so forgive me in advance. I think full blown Atkins might be extreme for you to lose 15 pounds at the age of 17. Perhaps the Atkins for Life or Maintenance program might be perhaps a better fit for you living under your parent's house. You can certainly lose the weight that way and see the same benefit of getting your blood glucose under control, but do not go through the same Induction period. You eliminate the bads ("whites" - sugars, starches, while maintaining the naturally occuring sugars in smaller portions). It's an option that I just wanted to throw out there. Back to the question at hand though... Low Fat (why you would want low fat milk on a high fat diet is confusing to me) milk is certainly off limits. If you do want some dairy, you can have 3-4 oz of heavy cream a day, which you can of course cut with some water. It isn't the same, but it does have some calcium. As for the rest of your necessary calcium intake, there is always cheese and calcium rich vegetables like spinach. Peanuts are indeed included as part of nut and seeds rung (despite what they might scientifically rung (legumes) they deserve to be in) and should be put off until OWL or at very minimum Extended Induction (1 oz max). They are one of the more common portion control problem foods, so be extremely careful with them. Even now, I have to buy them in 1 oz packages rather than a more affordable 16 oz can for the same reason.

| Thankyou. I know that I am allowed cheese, so hopefully that will be my source of calcium. I am also taking my vitamins and supplements regularly. I have lost 3 lbs.. Im now 120 lbs Thankyouuu you guys. This forum is so insipring. Thanks for playing dad. I don't really mind. I see what you are saying. Ive done my research and I really appreciate it. But I feel like I need to do this for my self. I had been chubby as a kid and it was hard for me to lose the weight. I wanna do it now simply to look good as most ppl do. right now ive lowered my expectations. id be happy by losing just 10. 15 wud be pushing it.. thanks again.. xox Kanita. |

| WOW - three pounds in a few days is terrific !! Most of us lose between 5% and 10% of our hoped for loss in our first 14 days on induction so you are way out in front (or should that be 'weigh' out in front!!) Keep up the good work
