I love Italian food! I'm hoping someone has some good suggestions.

The only thing that you may run into is that they put sugar in their tomato sauce. But, the alfredo cheese sauce may be okay if you check and make sure they don't put any type of sugar/flour in it first. One of those sauces over chicken should be fine with a house salad (again, watch for sugars in the dressing and for croutons.)

I hope you enjoy your dinner!

What kind of Italian Restaurant is this? Is it a McPasta place (Olive Garden I'm looking at YOU!) or is this an authentic Italian restaurant?

If it's McPasta, then you're better off going somewhere else because you'll have very little to choose from.

If it's an authentic Italian place, you'll have plenty to choose from. Start with a salad, then go for the grilled food--bistecc a la Florentina is a good choice (it's a hunk of prime rib). You might get away with eating something like Chicken Marsala, but be sure to tell the waiter you do not want your food to have added flour, bread crumbs, etc. Of course, you can choose from a wide variety of simple sauteed vegetables. And for dessert---opt for tea or decaf coffee.

DD...print this out and take it with you so you have a reference when you go out to eat.

I've eaten at Italian restaurants and there's always salad...and pretty much any restaurant will substitute salad for other high carb stuff, so it's really not a big deal eating out.

I have gotten grilled salmon at Italian restaurants before with veggies, so they would probably have that there. It was pretty good, too.

While my answer is probably too late for your night out, here are my suggestions for the next time:

Italian appetizers such as antipasti come in various flavors, there are great veggie options like grilled eggplant or marinated zucchini, gralicky mushrooms - some evene offer an antipasto buffet where you can choose for yourself (at least over here...) Ant there's always vitello tonnato.

Entree options: grilled beef (bistecca), sea water fish, grilled prawns, or my favorite: saltimbocca . Hold the dessert, though

My suggestion is also too late for your night out, but if you did go, or will go in the future, you can get Atkins legal meals at Olive Garden. One thing I get there is Mixed Grill...it's beef and chicken pieces with green andred peppers and onion pieces on skewers. It usually comes with rice or Pasta but you can get broccoli as a substitute.

Another excellant dish is Steak Pizzaola...with this dish, just tell the waiter to have them ease up on the tomato sauce. It usally is not drenched in sauce, but it doesn't hurt to mention it.

Hope this helps
