| Metamucil has capsules (so you won't have to deal with the grainy texture of the sprinkles.) If you want the grainy stuff, try the organic food section of Safeway or CVS.

| okay great! The capsules sound great...I just have to check to see if they have starch in them to bind the capsule together. I really appreciate the info!! I'm off to the store right now!!!

| Psyllium by itself is nasty!!! Blech! Get the pills! Or I can send you the rest of my bag of psyllium...icky and gooey when you mix it with water...it was a gagfest trying to drink that down. Another option is to get yourself some flax seeds (or flax meal...I prefer to buy the seeds and grind it myself) and make some flax bread, or sprinkle it on salads to get extra fiber. |

| Okay. I bought the pills..and it said to take 5! I don't care as long as they work! I was a little turned off by the choking warning, but then my tummy reminded me that they are a must!! That sounds like a great idea putting it on a salad. Where can I buy that??

| You can buy flax seed in grocery stores, health food stores...just look around for it. All you need to grind it with is a little coffee grinder and you can pick one up for next to nothing. I like to grind my own because I think pre-ground lose a lot of their oils. I keep the seeds and ground flax in a jar in the fridge. I make this once or twice a week: http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/2_carb_burger_bun.html but it's quite a lot of flax to eat at one sitting so I slice it into three and have one slice a day. If you do a search on 'flax' in this board, or go to the recipe forums you'll find other things to do with flax. I'm thinking you want to take the psyllium for constipation issues, right? Something you may also want to try are glycerine suppositories. They are for those times you feel you are ready to have a bowel movement but your body is just not co-operating. They're cheap to buy and you get results within 15 minutes. They've helped me out a few times. |

| Make certain you drink PLENTY of water when you take those pills or you'll be doubled over in pain as the fiber pulls water out your gut. |

| I've been taking the Metamucil capsules. My bottle said to take 6 per day. That seemed like a lot, so I've only been taking 2 per day. I noticed it said it was 3 carbs per serving (1 serving = 6 capsules). Do we have to count those?

| Yes, you do count those... But since that is a fiber pill, I'd look at the list of ingredients...generally fiber cuts down the count of things so I'm wondering why they have any carb count at all...? |

| Mine say the dosage is 5, for constipation, and 6 for lowering cholesterol. I t also said I could repeat doage 3 times a day! I just took my 5, and I'm still waiting....says it could be between 12-48 hours. Moochie...thanks for the ideas. I will pick some up tonight and make something with them. I really like the salad idea though. I am taking them for constipation. Been a week
