| Okay, I loooove that you left them behind. I would suggest one thing, if you can, get some chromium picolanate (spelling may not be right on the second word). That will help with cravings, you take it once in the A.M. (but not within 2 hours of taking prescribed meds, directions on the bottle). It helps maintain a healthy and stable blood sugar level, which reduces the physical cravings at least. Might help you fight off the urges when you shop next time, and don't go when you're hungry, I've been through that, and it makes it SOOOO hard. Eat first! Good luck, and welcome!

| thanks for the tip. i'll try it, but i'm pretty sure my cravings really aren't so much physical as they are mental. that's my biggest hurdle.

| OH man, I know that feeling. COMFORT FOOD! Just keep it in mind though. As you progress and start adding back food when you get to OWL and further, that can be invaluable in fighting the cravings you may get if you add back a trigger food (one that you find gives you horrible cravings after you eat it). Hopefully you won't find many of those, but that's for later, so no worries now! Just watch for it, sometimes when you are eating differently and controlling the carbs, you may find a trigger food in induction, which you should remember and try to eat with some fat added (because that might help you with cutting the craving) like some cheese or cream or other fatty food. The chromium picolinate (there's that bad spelling again) can help in that case too. I'm so excited for you! I hope you drop a bunch of pounds on induction and that you get the burst of energy that comes from it naturally soon if you haven't had it already. Also, don't forget, you may feel cruddy for a few days during those first few weeks (called induction flu because of the flu like symptoms). Just ride out the aches and pains if you get it, it's just your body adjusting to the switch to a fat burning machine!

| This is also my third day and I had the same trouble in the super market tonight. Except I had my hands on a box of nutty bars. I had very few cravings until I stept foot in the supermarket. I think the best thing to do is try and eat a good meal before you go. Good Luck! |

| Welcome to you both. I am soooo proud of you both for leaving the junk in the store. I take my water bottle with me everywhere. It is a really great distraction, just put it to your mouth and keep walking. Keep up the good work. TJ

| I brought my water bottle with me to the supermarket for the first time today actually, TJ. Drinking water helped me remind myself that I wasn't actually physically hungry for chips, and that it was all in my head. Jasmain- the physical symptoms definitely hit me pretty hard. I had a headache that lasted over a day and just generally felt dizzy and naseous. But I just took it as a sign of withdrawal--which, really, is a good thing. Means my body is on it's way to adjusting. Something that worried me though---my first day, in the morning I had a cup of decaf tea sweetened with Splenda. About 10 minutes later, I got really naseous, and threw up. Anyone know why this could be? I've stayed away from Splenda the past few days after that, and have been drinking my tea plain, so I may try the Splenda again when my body settles down a bit.

Now, as far as the supermarket thing goes..I didn't have trouble at first. In fact, I took quite a long time in the store reading labels and seeing what was out there. Even when you buy sausage, Jimmy Dean has the least amount of carbs that I have found. Look at shopping as a learning experience. Make a list and focus on the stuff you are there for, reading and comparing labels so you make the better choice. I also find recipes online so I have meals picked out for the week. It stops you from getting bored with the same stuff everyday. Something else to think about..the grocery store is specifically marketed and designed to get you to want the 'junk'. The entire layout of a grocery store is to get people to buy from impulse. Ever notice how the breads, cookies, and cakes are usually near the front of the store? Go to the exact OPPOSITE of the store when you begin shopping. You will usually wind up in the meats and deli section first when you do that. It will help you avoid the crap |

| Dev, I occasionally get nausious drinking tea on an empty stomach. I started drinking chamomile (sp?) instead, and after I've eaten at least something during the morning. I know how you feel about shopping. I try to eat before going into the store, but I remember standing for a half hour in the candy section, trying to rationalize that a bag of sugar-free russell stover's candy would be "okay". I wouldn't have been okay, I'd have been giving in to a craving. Walking out of that store without buying anything that wasn't legal was a huge victory to me that sticks with me to this day. |
