Default Mentally Preparing!!

Hi everyone, I AM A CARBOHYDRATE ADDICT
I am about to re-embark on the Atkins journey. In 2004 I lost 45 pounds on Atkins, but, like many others I fell off the wagon. I have gained it all back along with 6 more additional. I am starting my induction on March 1. In my opinion, many times that diets fail it is beacause you were not mentally prepared to go on the diet in the first place. I have reread the ADNDR book and am emptying my home of "bad" foods. I am also purchasing acceptible foods. That way I will be able to start the withdrawal with a home, mind, and body that are ready for the change! I have joined this bulletin board so that when and while I am losing my weight I will have like minded people to converse with during the "tough" times! Support is soooooo important. Wish me well on the beginning of my new life. I am looking forward to feeling healthy, looking good, and most of all knowing that I did something really good for myself.

Welcome Joe! You've come to the right place. You're going to like it here.

What about exercise? Part of doing Atkins is exercising. What are your plans for that area of your weight loss journey?

Good for you!! I didn't plan very well when I started this WOL, but thank God for ADBB!! You are in the right place! Make sure to drink your water and read labels on the food you eat. I do the eliptical for my exercise, I love it!!

Hi Joe, you are gonna do GREAT!
This board is wonderful for daily inspiration, I don't think I could have done as well without it. When my motivation is low, I review the "stickys" and success stories to get myself going again.

Preparation is a great thing. Congratulations for emptying your house of unwelcome carbage. You will be better off for it. You had success before and you will have success now.

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement. It's comforting to know that support is surrounding you. I do plan on an exercise regimine. Just not sure what it will be. Right now it is exercise just getting out of bed in the morning!! I do know that walking will be a big part of my plan. When I was on Atkins the first time I purchased a Nutri-Counter and it really helped me to keep track of the carbs. Thanks again

Hi Joe

One way to increase your moving around and get geared up to exercising for real is to make sure you take the stairs instead of the lift (elevator) whenever possible - even if it means walking up one flight and getting on the lift on the second floor to go further up the building, or always walking down instead of taking the lift - less effort than climbing the stairs but still making your body and legs work I find!

Or parking a distance away from the entrance when you go anywhere to get a five minute walk in there.

Or walk round the supermarket a few times instead of just nipping in and buying what you want quickly. I always find I spend longer shopping anyway as I have to read all the labels too!

Welcome aboard. You are so right. You really have to be committed to any change and sometimes that means digging pretty deep into your psyche. Sounds like you're ready and you've found a supportive place to help you on your journey.
