| I think it must be normal. Ever since Ive started Atkins Ive been waking up earlier than usual ready to go. I used to just lay in bed hating the thought of getting up and moving. I think you'll find that you'll have a lot more energy and stamina than youve ever had. Good luck! |

| Michael, It happesn to me all the time. If you feel ok I guess there is no problem with it. It can be that you have more energy now, and you dont need to sleep as much. |

| That's the "increase in energy" Dr. Atkins wrote about. It's too bad they didn't include some of Dr. Atkins' personal experience in DANDR2002, but in the 1972 book, Dr. Atkins related the story of how he required less sleep and had more energy after going on his diet.

| PS.... Put this extra "awake time" to good use, like exercise. Doing it early in the day, gets it out of the way and revvs up your metabolism.

| oh how I remember the early days of my Atkins journey. The extra energy (that you are now experiencing) was one the most memorable things to me. Its great isnt it? Rich

| I literally couldn't sleep my entire first month. I would be up all night wide-awake. And then some nights I would finally fall asleep and wake up with the worst nightmares! But now I sleep like a baby!

| Not on atkins: I usually woke up about 5 minutes before my alarm goes off, which is something i've done most of my life. Maybe its my body's way of sparing me that horrible noise first thing in the morning! Anyway my wake up time for work is usually 7:20am On Atkins: The last two or three days i've been waking up at exactly 6:30. I need to learn to get up when I wake up though, because if I try to stay in bed and go back to sleep, i'm 10 times more tired when I try to get up.

| Thank you for all the replies! I am enjoying the energy. However, a few times today I got realy tired byt within a few minutes my energy came back. I did put the extra time to good use, walking and cleaning the house a little before I left. Hopefully tommorrow will be similar. Knowing that I am new to this, I will get accostum to whatever it takes to be healthy. The only thing I have had to drink for these three days has been water, nothing else! I am afraid that if I drink anything else I will start craving the sodas (like I did on day 1). So, if I can give up code red mountain dew, I can give anything up! (laughing). Thanks again, Michael
