| Hey girl, don't get discouraged. I started on January 1st this year. I have been on induction since then, cheat free. I choose to stay on induction longer than most. This is my second go at Atkins. The first time I lost 20 pounds the first month, this time around I have lost 20 pounds in 2 months. I was getting really bummed but my resolve and motto is "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" so I am sticking it out for the long haul. It certainly has gotten easier the longer I go because I am constantly checking out the boards for new recipes and such. I hit a low about 2 weeks ago, so I know what it means to be discouraged but now the scale is moving again and I am so glad I stuck it out. If I hadn't, I would have just had to start over, and that REALLY sucks. 12 days isn't really giving this woe a fair shake. Commit to it, really commit to it. What have you got to lose? Weight? High blood pressure? You'll get those under control when you commit. Drink your water, do some kind of fun exercise to keep you interested. Hang in there, check the boards frequently for encourgement. We can do this. You aren't alone, there are bizzillions of us out there back you up. We'll do it together! Don't give up on yourself! |

| That is still a good amount of weight to lose, at least you didn't gain. You will keep losing, just stick with this WOL and you will see results! Keep us posted on how you are doing and feeling.

| Let us do the math. 5lbs in 12 days, that is 0.42lbs per day. 0.42lbs x 365 days/year=153.30 lbs in 1 year at that pace. Put that in perspective and I think you did well with your 5lbs. Keep up the good fight you will get there. |

| Tina, its the Atenalol, its a beta blocker and Dr Atkins talks about it in his book. BUT don't quit taking it cause it is a very good drug for heart palapatations but if you just quit taking it it can cause you to have a heart attact. It is something that you have to discuss with your doctor and have him give you something else in its place..... Again don't quit taking it. It doesn't stall weightloss, it just takes a little longer, I have been taking it for 5 years now. Dr. Atkins said that you should expect to lose about 5 to 10 percent of what you want to lose on induction, You want to lose 30 pounds, so thats 1.5 to 3 pounds. Your not losing slowly at all, your doing very well. Just don't get discouraged. . |

| The more often you go on and off plan, the harder it is to lose the weight. It especially shows up in Induction weight loss for some people. I think the weight you lost was great. You may have been like one night's sleep away from a pound or two loss. That is why you have to stick out the tough days. You also don't want to have to suffer cravings and whatever else due to a day 'off plan'. You really have to envision yourself not only losing the weight but keeping it off. That means going for the long haul. Try to keep variety in your menus so boredom doesn't creep up on you. Busy yourself by educating yourself on new things that are 'legal'. Maybe by focusing on other parts of this 'diet', you can get away from the scales.

| Exercise is a must, you want to be FIT and healthy! You did wonderfully losing those 5 pounds! Great job! Everyone is right, and those last 20-30 for most people with more to lose do come off slower, so you aren't losing too slowly at all. Don't go off plan, but do add some exercise, within the limits of what your doctor says is reasonable with the health problems you have currently. I would definitely speak with your doctor.

| Jas, The Dr says keep up at the Gym as much as I can I dont have any heart problems I have anxiety and paniac attacks which cause me to have High BP Iv had every test done under the moon thank god my heart id fine , I want to lose the weight to feel better myself and be healthier I have 4 kids my oldest will be 14 next month my youngest just turned 1 , So the baby fat is much harder this time around LOL, But Im going back on tomm and wont go off It this time !!!!!!! Thanks to all you guys you have gave me inspiration Next Time I am feeling Blue I will just post to keep me going thanks everyone and keep up the good work ! |
