| One of the points of the induction (first 2 weeks of the program) is to "detox". You should be ridding your body of the bad foods/drinks and HABITS that got you heavy in the first place. Give up the soda--it's so full of aspartame and sodium that can certainly hinder your weight loss. Trust me, you can do it. I was a complete Mountain Dew addict and I quit them cold turkey. Not only does it sabotage your weight loss, it causes other bad things in your body like indigestion...I used to pop Tums along with my Mountain Dew. Instead of Mountain Dew and chips, I ate Tums to control the heart burn caused by the stupid soda. Since I gave up the soda, I'm not retaining water like a sponge, I have NO heartburn, and after a couple days of drinking the water, you'll get to a point where you will crave that water like crazy. That'll make it easier getting it down. A few weeks ago, I went and bought a soda (diet of course) as a 'treat'. Well, I took about 2 sips and threw the whole thing out...Nasty! That's when I realized I was in control, not the soda. Give it a chance. Every day, drink only the water and make sure that you are getting AT MINIMUM 64 oz (that's 3 sport bottles) a day. If you need something to keep you going, tell yourself that today I'm going to drink water and in one week I can have a soda. Most likely, in one week, you won't want that soda at all.
