Do you have the book "Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 edition"? You need to understand what you are allowed to eat during the 2 week induction. Carrots and nuts are not allowed during induction so you don't have to worry about that. You can bring devilled eggs or cheese to work as a snack....or celery with a some salad dressing as a dip.

i second those who say read the book

as for some other advice

try changing what you do with friends...don't have ur get togethers revolve around food and drinks...it takes some thinking but there are def things out there...i don't knwo where u live...but if ur in the city go gallery hopping...u'll feel oh so posh and get to make fun of the really bad art and see some amazing new talent and for the most part it's FREE...go to the movies...go shopping (this will also be a great motivator to lose weight)..as it gets nicer go out for walks with friends, play tennis etc....u'd be suprized how much this will gut down ur eating

as for over eating when u are with your self try this...take a break when u eat...so if u are eating dinner eat 6 bites...and then stop and drink water, walk around your room or just let ur plate sit for while..and hten start up again and do the same thing...this will allow your body to realize that it's eating and give u time to feel full...also if u drink a glass of water before u start your meal it'll help over eating...

those are just some tips i can think of off the top of my head....but basically the best advice is to limit the time that you have acess to food...thus limiting the times u will have the option of cheating

un bacio

The change in activities with your friends is some excellent advise. If you're changing your way of eating you have to change the habits and that might mean stepping away from the friends if eating is involved!

Just ask for their support and come up with some fun activities to do!

And convenience will be taken care of with your preparation the day before...cook things like chicken legs or hardboil eggs, have string cheese on hand, make some turkey and cream cheese roll ups ... if you do a search for snacks, I know we had a thread of different Induction phase snacks.

Take care!

I'm not sure what you mean by overeating. As long as you are sticking to the foods that allow liberal portions, I don't think you can overeat. If you do overeat at first, that compulsion will soon be remedied by ketosis which reduces appetite.

It is my opinion that we should be eating regular meals and eating enough food to be really full, and therefore too full to dive into forbidden food. This way of life does not require us to go hungry at all. I think staying full
is a key to making this lifestyle permanent.

And while there are foods you choose to give up, there are also many foods you can gleefully eat in abundance, in front of your friends, who may think you are a little crazy. Heh, heh...

Bring on the bacon, bring on the meat bone, Bring on the butter and roll me home...cuz its supper, supper, supper suppertime.....

There are so many things you can eat. That shouldn't be a problem as long as you know what they are. You have to get the book and read it. It is so important that you understand the program. The book is full of the foods to eat, recipes, information on why the diet works and important suggestions.

Wishing you success...
Pamela
