Default Salad Dressings

Can I have salad dressings during Induction? If so which ones?

For salad dressing, use oil and vinegar (but not balsamic vinegar, which contains sugar) or lemon juice and herbs and spices. Prepared salad dressings without added sugar and no more than two carbs per tablespoon serving are also fine.

You'll have to read the labels and ingredients to make sure the dressing you are using is appropriate for Induction.

I'm sure others will be around to give you that info. I typically use olive oil and a little vinegar or lemon juice for my dressings.

But the best thing to do is to read the labels on various store products. I read labels for foods because of the questions asked here and I remember a manufacturer "low carb" salad dressing that was more expensive than its "regular" salad dressing. Both dressings had the same carb count and the same ingredients. I guess you had to pay more for the low carb product because it cost the manufacturer more to print "low carb" on the labels.....

As has been said you really do need to read the label to see what ingredients are in the dressings before you decide which to buy. Make sure everything on the list is also on the list of allowed foods and you will be fine!

Maybe if it gets too confusing you can say which stores you shop in to see if someone will be able to say what brand of which dressings they buy from the same chain of stores.

Marie's Blue Cheese in the refrigerated produce section in the grocery store is OK.

A lot of times I just use olive oil, salt, pepper, and a splash of lemon juice, or red wine vinegar.

I also use Marie's in the salad section (Blue Cheese...NOT the light). Other than that I use oil or mayo.

Just a note, I have NEVER found a Ranch dressing that didn't contain something illegal. I know lots of people say they use ranch, but even the mix that you make at home with mayo has illegal ingredients. If someone has found ranch dressing that is induction friendly, please tell me! I'm dying to know where to find the stuff.

Thx

I love Ken's Bleu Cheese Dressing. It has 1 carb per 2 tablespoons, and its so yummy. The thing to remember with dressings, is to measure not pour.
