| HEY!! Chin up, back in the saddle. I used to do the same thing, start one day and stop that evening, telling myself tomorrow I will do it, but there's always tomorrow. Gotta kick that way of thinking. Last week I made a deal with myself, 2 weeks clean induction and I will have a treat of my favorite food. Thing is now it has been a week and I have lost 9.6 pounds. There is no way I am going to have that treat, I will do something else instead for myself. POINT IS: Get yourself through that first week any way you can, then by time it is over you can adjust what you promised yourself. If you go into it thinking OMG it is 2 weeks of strict induction you will never get passed that first 3 days, and after 3 days is where you start feeling better and start to forget about what you aren't having and start thinking about what you are giving yourself. A new you! And drink your water religiously, it really helps the cravings. |

| There isn't anything wrong with you. Its called a carb addiction and it is very real. And we all went through this. We do not shame ourselves. Guilt and shame are wasted emotions that are never empowering. I always felt guilty in the past - with every bite, with every binge. It never helped me find peace and it certainly never helped me lose weight. Only Atkins was able to do that. So put the blame where it belongs - on crazy marketing that promotes overprocessed junk non-food as food. There do seem to be some people who can eat carbs with reckless abandon and not suffer ill effects. However, if you are a person, like myself, who finds themselves stuck in an obsese state and gaining year after year, then it is time to get clean and get honest about it. I am not one of those people who can eat carbs and not gain. Therefore that kind of food is poisen for me. Its that simple. The good news is that there is another way - a healthier way that was illuminated for us by the good Dr. Atkins, GOD REST HIS WONDERFULLY PROACTIVE AND SPUNKY SOUL!!!! This way of eating was designed for carbo junkies like you and me. And it is only hard in the beginning. After you have slid into ketosis, ketosis itself will provide you with the physical and mental means to resist forbidden non-food. It won't always be hard. I promise you this. All you have to do is eat - eat a ton of healthy food in the beginning. Keep yourself so full that you aren't grabbing for anything else. So, I'm thinking that you weren't thrilled with your meal. So make a list of the foods from the induction foods list that you really, really love and eat those foods. At least 3 meals a day with snacks. We get to eat alot of wonderful food. Really! Eggs and bacon. Crab and butter. Steak and mushrooms. Ham and Cheese. If you put your focus on what we can have and celebrate it, you won't suffer so much over the other junk. Do this for 2 - 3 weeks and watch your body and your mental outlook find their freedom. If you stick to Atkins the day will come when you can walk down that junk food aisle with a little skip in your step and a smile on your face. You will be impervious to all that junk. Believe! Now get back on induction with your next bite. You can do this. Go check out some of the before and after pics of other Atkineers. Stay glued to the ADBB. Good Luck! |

| It's crucial to eat foods that you like, otherwise it will be very hard to stick with the diet. It might even mean making another trip to the grocery store to pick up a few new things, or looking up some new recipes. There are lots of dishes/foods to choose from, you just need to find what you like best. There are some recipes on this bulletin board...maybe take a look at those? The first few days of Atkins can be tough, but it will be worth it.

| Main thing, don't kick yourself over it. Just decide to get back up on your feet and make the choice that's going to change your life. If you really hate a food, don't eat it! There's plenty of variety that you shouldn't have to eat a thing you hate. Tell yourself you can do ANYHTING for one day! Then at the end of the day, look at how you feel, both physically, and mentally because you're proud of yourself! Then do the same the next. Do this one day at a time and one pound at a time, and VERY soon it will be self-motivating, because you'll look in the mirror and see the results right in front of you, and you'll never want to go back to the way you were before.

| Get the house cleaned out. Get rid of what you can't have, and if you have family you have to keep things around for, put it separate from what you CAN eat. Make your own space! Preparing beforehand is crucial for some, stocking up with anything from the induction list that you DO like, and find some new ways to prepare things! You can do this, but you certainly have to be ready. Most people, when they REALLY want something, are tenacious about getting it when it comes to material things. Think of this as YOURS, think of the control as being something tangible and GRAB IT, and DO NOT LET GO!

| I am on Day 4 of induction and I feel great. I used to drink about 5 cans of Mt Dew a day, I relied on it for energy. I ate out all the time, my main consumption was carbs. I have to admit the first two days were horrible but I told myself that I have to keep up, it was my last chance. I even started getting up at 5am to exercise, normally there is no way I could get up that early and workout and go to work without feeling horrible. It is tough but it is so worth it. Hang in there, if you want it bad enough then you can do it.

| Wow, first of all, Tabekat, you blow me away with your words. Thankyou all for being so understanding. It really helps to know that you all go through the same things. I was feeling really down and bad about myself and now I feel a little bit better. It is amazing what a hold "carbs" have on us. When I am eating something sugary or salty I feel so out of control, I cant get it in fast enough, its sad isn't it. I want this so bad it hurts and I will do this, I will! |
