Default question for the pros

AZ green tea has the diet kind that is sweetened with splenda. on the bottle is says not for diabetics (sp?) i'm guess that is because it will still cause a spike in blood sugar. therefore, is it ok for people on induction to drink?

Read the list of ingredients. See what is in it. If it all looks ok, then you "can" have it. Be sure and count each serving as one of your splenda servings for the day. Hint: One bottle is not necessarily 1 serving, it could be 2 or 3. Also, it does not count towards your water!!!
I am curious to hear what is in it making them state not for diabetics?

If it has honey, then the drink is not acceptable for Induction per Dr. Atkins' Rules for his diet.

Always read the ingredients in addition to the nutritional info box and the label. Back when things were just beginning to be sweetened with Splenda, one of the low carb ice creams had the "sweetened with Splenda" sign on it's box label. However, if you read the ingredients, the third ingredient was high fructose corn syrup and Splenda was the second to last ingredient on the list. Ditto, when Entennmen's had an Atkins low carb baked goods line, there was tiny print on one side of the box that said the product was not acceptable for the weight loss phases of Atkins, but was okay for the Maintenance phase. Believe me, we had plenty of folks buying that stuff and arguing with us about it being okay for Induction, until they were directed to look at that tiny warning on the box.

So, read the entire label and compare the ingredients to the Induction Acceptable Foods list. In the long run, it will save you money, time and grief.
