| No need to be concerned, Gina. That is very normal. The initial stages of any diet is the time that you lose the most weight. It will slow itself down over time. It happened to me also. It also happened to countless other people here. Dont panic. Instead I think you should be very proud. Keep up good work. Rich

| After day 1 was 4lbs down and it's my 5th day and I am 9lbs down now, so I was concerned too, but I think it's different for everybody and I wouldn't worry...congrats on a great start! |

| Yup, I lost really fast in the beginning. It is awesome isn't it? It will slow down, so enjoy it while you can!! |

| After 5 full days, I'm down 6 pounds. I know there was a good lot of water weight in there, but for some people it is definetly normal. It is going to come off fast here at the front of things - enjoy the feeling! I'm at the point where my wedding ring slips off with a gentle tug now, where last week I had to fight it. Just remember it comes off fast at the beginning, but slows down later. Don't get discouraged if by week 4 or 5 your aren't losing at this same rate. I did atkins before, and when I hit my 3rd week and was hardly losing I lost focus. Take comfort from the past that you had a good start, and perservere! Congratulations on your initial losses.

| Some of the weight is water, and some is fat. Be happy. As far as those types of weight loss on Atkins vs the widely "acceptable" Weight Watchers program: The first time I did Weight Watchers (not NEARLY as heavy as when I started Atkins) I lost 13 lbs my first week. So, I would have to agree with Richt that you could have significant initial loss on any weight loss program.
