Default Are Sugar Alcohols OK

Just wondering if sugar alcohols are ok? Besides giving me gas is it ok to eat products with sugar alcohols while on induction?

Dr. Atkins wrote sugar alcohols are okay. However at ADBB, we discourage them because they cause weight loss stalls or slow downs in some people. This is something you really want to avoid during Induction because the first 14 days are super-important. You want to maximize your weight loss potential because that will give you an idea of your degree of metabolic resistance to weight loss. By knowing that, you will be able to make better decisions on how to proceed with the remainder of your weight loss diet and better decisions on how to proceed with your weight maintenance diet.

Check out how many of us are in the "second time around club" because we bought the low carb bars and candies that were labeled "induction safe." It really kicks up the carb / sugar cravings, stalls weight loss and can also upset your tummy a lot. Avoid them as much as you can.

I was looking on the atkins website the other day and none of the candy bars are marked induction safe. Were they at one time and now they have changed them????? I was just checking out the stuff to see what was available for AFTER induction. When I was Atkins the 1st time after induction I would treat myself to one treat from the atkins foods every other week because they are so expensive. I think the baking mix and some syrup were the first things I bought to have pancakes. haha I lost 36 pounds that time in 4 1/2 months I think because I did induction perfect and never cheated other than one night of drinking wine in all that time. I paid with a hangover the next day for that one night too. LOL It was just like I got into a groove and I never had a hard time sticking to this woe at all. I want the groove back!!!!!

just remember there are no mythical magical counting noncounting foods.
I loved the warning posted on the Atkins icecream bars that said even though they were low carb you should endulge responsible and one bar was a serving! the entire box was listed at under 20 carbs using the effective carbs method of counting and if those magical mythical counting noncounting carbs were not going to effect your ketosis one could have had the entire box as part of ones OWL and still be cheat free.

When Dr Atkins created his plan we controlled our energy intake because if you wanted a piece of cake you had to budget your carbs very carefully cause 1/24th of a betty crocker cake cost you 24 carbs (and 150 cals), so you didn't do it often. now with sugar alcohols if the Atkins site still makes it there is a chocolate cake listed as 24 net carbs for the whole fricking cake ( 3000 cals too)! Begining to see why the mythical magical counting noncounting carbs are not a good idea?

I'm glad for this thread. I'm cutting out my lil favs--sugarfree icebreakers fruit flavored mints. 1 carb for 2 but I end up eating the whole thing, hard to stop and i think i am holding water for some reason from over indluging for the weekend on them. i like the point 2 big made too about the calorie/carb ratio thing, makes plenty of sense.

I avoid them... if you HAVE to have them try to only have 1-2g and count them as your carbs.... I only seem to get them in gum........

I wonder if they make gum with splenda.?
