| You should find that the carbs in flax meal are nearly all fiber, which you subtract anyway, so it doesn't go too hard against your 20 net carbs for the day. Sausage can be sorta hard to find sometimes and the bottomline is if you want it, go with the lowest carbs count per serving you can find. Some people totally avoid any type of product with any sugar and that is fine but can be a little aggravating so that is up to you. I personally like the Hillshire Farms Kielbasa at Wal-mart. I get the lite (it has 0 sugar - not even on the ingredient list). Good for you with the butcher shop bacon! Atkins products are total wastes of your time and money - I have to be straight up here, no offense intended. They are based on what the Atkins Nutritional people say and how much money they want to make. There are tons of testimonials on the board alone that attest to how they stall you out and also trigger the sugar cravings that so many of us want to be without. Also, they are just dang expensive when you really look at what you are getting. As for induction, the good doctor himself said if the ingredient list is not induction legal, neither is the product. So they are definitely out for induction if you really are keeping it legal. Also, Atkins Nutritionals idea for getting 'net' carbs is to subtract a ton of different types of carbs as if you can just ignore that you ingested them at all. But you do metabolize them and convert them to energy...I'll let you do the math on that one. There is a really good sticky in one of the FAQ areas or forums about how sugar alcohols affect different people. Read that and you will know a lot more - important since most 'low carb' products have one or more types of sugar alcohols in them. (Sugar alcohols do have their place, in my opinion, but you should know more before you decide if you want to go down that road.) Hope this helps!

| Well they are not really a 'scam' but they are aimed at people who want an easy way of lowering carbs without making meals from fresh ingredients! I think they have a place in the later stages of Atkins - maintenance mainly - for the odd times you cant spend time in the kitchen and want a preprepared snack wihtout sugar and flour etc. But you do need to read the ingredients list, as Cypressgirl said, as the company seems to ignore the 'allowed foods list' when deciding something is OK for induction. And some people's bodies do absorb those sugar alcohols so they should not deduct those 'magic noncounting carbs' from the total count of the bars - making them a high-carb item to be using your 20 net carbs up on eating!!

| I make my sausage at home. It's EASY, CHEAPER, and MUCH BETTER than the stuff you buy commercially. You can find a recipe for homemade breakfast sausage by following the following link: http://www.otherwhitemeat.com/aspx/r...?rid=453&cid=0 You don't have to use the meat they suggest. Just buy some ground pork from the store and mix in the seasonings. Whole boneless pork loins can be found in my area for $1.89 a pound or less. Good luck and good eating!

| I have made my own sausage too so I know it didn't have sugar. I just looked up a bunch of sausage seasonings on the net and picked the one I thought I would like the best. Then I bought the one pound packages of ground pork they sold at Albertsons and mixed in the spices and fried it up. That way you know exactly what is in it.

| Mom always taught K.I.S.S. - it seems to also apply to food you should eat. The longer the ingredient list, and the more industrialized the product, the more likely there will be added fillers designed ultimately to appeal to your senses and the industries' profits.
