| If you can take things and keep them cool, I'd say pack some veggie sticks, cheese cubes, some cucumber slices, some sliced ham from the deli, some ranch dressing if you like it for dip, maybe some leftover meat cubes if you make something like pork chops or chicken and have leftovers, some boiled eggs, things like that, easy to eat and snack on, filling, and good for you. I hope you have a good time, I know what a pain those types of things can be! Hopefully they will have some decent salad fixings there, just make sure you take some dressing in case it's a toss up and they don't provide dressing that you can be sure is friendly.

| Tuna packets with mayo packets can be a godsend. lil cans of chicken are great as well. Turkey (or regular) pepperoni doesnt need to be refrigerated even after opening so that would be fine for a few days. Cheese already measured out into 1 oz servings. baggies of veggies that travel well like spinach, cucumbers, olives etc.

| I was thinking of posting something like thsi one of these days I'll be flying from costa rica to san diego soon, and between the layovers and everything ill be out of the house from about 5am to 7pm... so, any ideas for really portable stuff? everything i can think of either leaks, or needs a lot of instruments, or is really messy... the best I can think of is a roast chicken... but i keep thinking it's really smelly... I wonder if planes make low-carb meals... Omni, I really love individually wrapped cheesesticks... and sometimes you can find pepperoni sticks... sadly, none of those here... |

| Thanks to everyone. I have the pepperoni and individually wrapped cheesesticks. I didn't know that pepperoni would keep without refrigeration, and love the idea of baking it. How long will individually wrapped cheesesticks keep without refrigeration? Although I will be taking a fridge, its really small - holds maybe 12 cans of soda (that's how they measure it, not how I'll use it). I'll try the veggie thing, too.

| Okay, I've formulated a travel plan for next week. If it works, I'll be using it on vacation as well. 1. I checked with the place I will be staying and all food is served buffet style. They serve a different kind of omelet every morning -- perfect! 2. Huge salad bar will keep me fine for meals, but I'm going to take my own salad dressing, just to be safe there. Stick to meats that are baked or broiled. 3. Using my cooler that plugs into the cigarette lighter, I'm going to pack a survival kit to include the following: pepperoni slices individually wrapped cheese sticks a bottle of LC salad dressing olives (I love olives) 4. Take my own water. If I want something sweet, I have some packets of flavored green tea that I can add to a bottle of water. That way I don't have to worry about what kind of soda is available. 5. Individually package pork rinds so that I can tuck one small package into my stuff and don't have to carry the whole big bag. 6. A huge temptation for me will be the homemade pies and pastries served with each meal What do you think? Wish me luck
