Good news! I checked my ketone level today and the pad turned purple, so all appears to be well. I'm going to extend induction by a week (was planning on this anyway), then move on to OWL.

    Thanks for the advice, everyone.

Some of us have very high Critical Carbohydrate Losing Levels and can tolerate carb levels of over 60 net carbs daily. The majority of us have CCLLs between 20-50.

Also, you should really rely more on your weight loss than those ketostix. Ketostix don't tell you if you are metabolizing your body fat (which is what we want to lose) or if you are metabolizing the fat you ate in your meals.

    You mean inch loss, right?

    Miclam,
What are your stats? I mean, how did you do on induction? Starting weight, pounds lost etc? Inquiring minds (those of us on induction) want to know!

Weight loss can be measured by either pounds loss or inches loss. That's why Dr. Atkins recommended we weigh and measure ourselves to gauge our losses. That's another reason why an Atkins weight loss plateau, or stall, is defined as 4 weeks without the loss of pounds or inches.

    Hi --

I'm interested in your post because I'd been doing quite well for about six weeks, and this past weekend took the kind of "break" that left me "intestinally ill" for about 24 hours.I didn't think ice cream and Indian breads and, yes, even two Twinkies (I hadn't had them in 20 years, so I wanted to try them again) would have had that effect.

I've been concerned that weight loss zipped along at first and then levelled off and has remained that way for weeks. What I see is that I'd been indulging in low-carb bars several times a day.

I guess I can't have those for now.

I'm going to try again without the bars.

    Thanks

Yep, Your blood sugar spiked and fell to quickly. Glad to hear your not letting it stop you from continuing on with this woe. We all stumble and fall at times, but managed to get up and brush ourselves off and keep going. Best of health to you!

Ugh, I am right there with you guys. I cheated and had a big slice of pizza on friday night...I've been paying for it for 2 days! Stomach ache, headache, etc. NEVER AGAIN.
