| Get well, soon. BTW, that myth about eating "carby foods" when you're ill is based on something doctors used to call the "BRAT" diet. BRAT stood for Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast/Tea. And it was used to counteract diarrhea! Doctors don't use it anymore because studies show it's ineffective. For some reason during the 20th century, it became ingrained to use that diet or a variation of it whenever anyone is ill. Before that, ill people were fed high protein and high fat foods during illness like eggs and meat broths (made by simmering chunks of meat and/or bones in water).

| Yeah, I know that it can't "cure' anything, but I must fall in that brainwashed category. I tried to stay on Atkins the first couple of days and ate some leftover chicken breast, etc.. but couldn't keep it down (or in for that matter...sorry..TMI). Then hubby started bringing me soup...I did feel better, but that could also be that the illness ran part of its course and it had been a few days later...None-the-less, I just stuck to those few foods to avoid any problems.. Feeling better now though and if it continues, I am considering getting back in the swing of things tomorrow. |
