Talking Getting ready to start!

My first post, and my introduction...

My story starts about a year ago, April 2005. My life changed in a way I never thought possible. I left my X, and father of my 2 daughters. I enrolled in college, and then started gaining weight. I was on Depo, for 9 years, and the 15lbs you normally gain had turned to 20. I wasn't 'overweight' for my height of 5'8, but I was feeling FAT...I could still wear size 8's, and fit into all my old clothes but my belly fat was starting to get to me. I found I was carb loading. Chips, my downfall! Bread- another.

November of 2005, I started dating again. Fell in love, and everything should have been great.... Well, to the outside world it was. I get along great with my X, and we are better friends now than we ever were. I am in school full time, and have everything anyone could 'want. However..I would wake up and feel as though something was 'missing'. Finally in March, I called my doctor. I was getting VERY short with the kids, yelling, and not dealing with them the way I should. My relationship was taking the brunt of this as well, and thankfully he is VERY understanding about what I'm dealing with...but I needed to do something. I went in, and was put on Lexapro for depression. Long story short, about 6 weeks later, we changed the meds by cutting my lexapro in half and adding wellbutrin. I am happy to report that I am feeling much better about my life, and all of that, HOWEVER this fat is still there!

I use to exercise every night...I would walk 2 miles a day. But, I was feeling crappy all the time, and even though I knew exercise would help my mood, I couldnt bring myself to do it. Heck, half the time getting out of bed was chore enough.

I started recently rollerblading with the girls on a bike path nearby. I feel good about it, and purchased some yoga and pilates tapes to use when raining.

I dug out the old Atkins book I had from years ago, and re-read it. Then I googled- and here I am.

Next Thursday, July 6th I will be starting a clean induction. My reason for starting on that date is because i will have the weekend to deal with any withdrawal symptoms i have. I am a coffee drinker- cream and sugar! I know I'll have to switch to decaf, and also splenda. I've already switched out my coffee, in hopes that I can fend off some withdrawal affects- such as the headache! So far so good with that.

I am not a veggie eater in any way, but I know that if I have them in house and ready to eat, I will snack on those. Green peppers I do like! Salads I can eat...

In reality, i'm not trying to lose weight, I'm trying to complete the change to a healthy life. I will be happy to stay where I am weight wise, if i can lose a few inches and reduce my dependency on caffeine and carbs.

I have spoken to my doc about starting this WOL and she encourages it so hopefully a week from now I'll be back to tell you, I'm starting!

Thanks for listening

Brandy
