Default Caffeine = bad?

I know the good Dr. says not to drink caffeine because it can cause a person to crave things that are not Atkins friendly but does it actually slow or halt weight loss? I don't drink soft drinks but sure love coffee.

Thanks!

Yep. It's bad. Causes spikes in blood sugar.

It'll also make you hungry...which can lead to overeating and falling off the wagon.

it actually spikes insulin, which is a fat storing hormone

Everyone above is right. I couldn't imagine giving up my coffee so I switched to decaf. You still get the taste but not the caffeine. If you switch and you use sweetener, don't forget to measure and count it towards your daily allowance.

Default Re: Caffeine = bad?

So I had 2 cups of regular coffee on Sunday. I didn't go on an eating binge and I didn't feel all crazy or anything. I don't feel guilty even though I cheated.

My question is about what 2big4mysize said. How can that be true if all the diet pills (no, I don't take any) are loaded with caffeine?

Thanks!

because all other diets are low fat high carb eating. the caffiene is the pick me up for the energy lost from the slowing metabolism cause the cals are cut way down too. when you aren't eating a high fat plan stimulating insulin will burn off the sugars present from your foods. converting the proteins to sugars for burning and then drop your blood sugar level like a rock and make you hungry as you start your burning of body fats. SO they include an appetite suppressant so you don't go eat more food too.

Atkins high fat eating needs insulin controlled not just to give you self control over cravings but to keep the body fat burning 24/7!
