| Hey I will be your friend. I am 5 weeks in, approx 20lbs down. I am drinking just over 100 oz a day and on extended induction. I exercise 6 times a week, read my book and am highly motivated and focused. My 15 yr old daughter joined Atkins 4 days ago. I have a coaching demeanor, and like to encourage others. You can do this, you have to get it together and link arms with some one and keep nailing it down...So, you are sensing the right thing in finding a friend/mentor/buddie... I would be happy to help, if you are interested, might want to wait and see if you like someone better and find the fit that works for you...But I am totally available... I actually do well with others riding off the coat tail. My blog has a group following along with me too. I could send you daily emails stating there is ablog... What ever works for you...YOu can do this! You are not a whale, you are a young woman, just waiting to get more motivated, and kicked into gear!

| Just 1 friend? I am sure you will me plenty of friends here. I have been in the same shoes with people telling me how bad Atkins is. I went my frist time almost a month and got back on and failed within 3 days because I was feeling the flu. You can email me if you are ever feeling down low about Atkins. As Jess said above and like the guy says in the movie Waterboy "YOU CAN DO IT". What helps me in blocking out the bad Atkins talk is remembering why *I* choose to do it. Because I know that if I want to get my weight down and stick to Atkins I am responsible for it. Plus if it works for me then who cares if they don't like it. We are on the same goal to lose weight and live by Atkin's way.

| When I started, I promised myself that I would do it until a certain date NO MATTER WHAT. It didn't matter if I lost 2 pounds or 20. It worked! The weight loss is slow but I feel better. The other suggestion is to take your measurements. You will see bigger changes with that then with the scale. Good Luck!

| I would be more than happy to be your friend. I am on extended induction. Last time at the scale I'd lost 10 lbs. I'm off the scale until the 11th as it can be desctructive to you during induction if it is not used correctly. I have 3 kids ages (19, 11 and 4) and I've been fighting the battle of the bulge after gaining 100 lbs for my first pregnancy almost 20 years ago. I know what it's like to feel so terrible about yourself that you decide you're not worth anything. The truth is that it's easier to think that way about yourself then it is to actually do something about it. I believe we all have our lowest point and if we have a good support system, that our lowest is point is where we can start to build ourselves back up and achieve our success. You have to fall down before you can get back up! Sometimes you fall more than once and having a soft landing makes it much easier. You CAN do this! |

| I'll be your friend too! Don't worry about people telling you Atkins is bad- you know better than they do about that anyway. I don't know if you've read DANDR, but it supplies plenty of facts to refute all the unsupportive misconceptions about the diet. You can do it! We'll all be here to help you.

| I know where you are coming from. First time I didn Atkins I felt Great!! I didnt care everyone was on my back. At First.... Then I got a cold, obviously it was Atkins that made me sick. Yeah right and then every time I was eatign anything I was getting "what you eating? thats not healthy. Is that not too high in Fat? Your kidneys will suffer" Eventually it wore me down Now what I have learned is that its about ME. you have to shrug off what everyone else thinks. Its YOUR BODY. its YOUR LIFESTYLE, and its YOUR CHOICE Stick in at it. We'll get there!
