Default Cauliflower 5 carbs or 2.5 carbs?

A cup of cauliflower is 2.5 net carbs according to fitday.com
Dr Atkinks, however says that during OWL stage we can add another cup of cauliflower for another 5 carbs. How come he counts it as 5 carbs and not 2.5 carbs?
Please help, I am confused
Thank you

DANDR 2002 has some editing mishaps....The OWL Chapter in 2002 is almost identical to the OWL chapter from the 1992 book---including the carbs. In 1992, total carbs were counted, not net carbs. So there is a discrepancy in those values. But in OWL, your additional foods are counted according to the net carb amounts. Since each food has its own carb count, the amounts vary tremendously. For example 5 net carbs of lettuce is almost 15 cups, whereas 5 net carbs of pumpkin is 1/2 cup.

During Induction, you use the cup (volume) measurements for your vegetables.

Really need to note that when it says lettuce it mean plain lettuce not bagged. I have found bags of lettuce that have 4 carbs per serving, I am assuming because of the cabbage and carrots they throw in.

Atkid, that wound be a bag of lettuce, cabbage and carrot salad, not a bag of lettuce, then. You don't want to have confused inductees thinking they can have that, now do you?
Carrots aren't allowed for them.

Well, that is kind of confusing, now isn't it?--about the cauliflower, I mean.

I have the hardback version and my OWL list is on page 151...just an FYI...

Here's my thought on this based on reading up on having "differences" in our daily diet as we move up the rungs of OWL.

Dr. A put the amounts in there based on a suggested serving as you mix and match to your own taste of what you wish to eat during the course of the day to add up to your daily allowable carb limit. Seeing how we need to spread our veggies out throughout the day in order to avoid a blood-sugar rush from veggies...I think he's just giving us more choices. Does that make sense in any way???

I count 1 cup of cauliflower as 2 carbs. I hope that this is not wrong because that and broccoli (both raw) are the 2 veggies i've been eating since i began Atkins induction 2 days ago.

I chop them up and mix with lemon juice and olive oil.
