Default Day 6 and Doing Fine!

So, this is Day 6 for me and I feel like I just got through the most tempting day yesterday.

We had a dinner party. I love to cook and am pretty good at it. Weren't alot of people, just some aunts, cousins and sisters. Anyhoo, I made an Atkins-friendly meal and no one really knew the difference, which just goes to show you easy this WOE is once you learn the paths to cutting out the carbs and triggers. So, this is what I made:

Starter:
-Shrimp Cocktail (easy, I know - I skipped the cocktail sauce)
-Olive and Cheese Platter
-Spinach Dip Bread Bowl (not for me)

Dinner:
-Herb & Garlic Roasted Center Cut Pork Loin w/Olive Oil and Rosemary Glaze
-Garlic-sauteed Fresh Green Beans with Almond Slivers
-Cold Broccoli Salad
-Home-made Butter Biscuits (not for me)
-Gigantic Garden Salad with home-made olive oil viniagrette

Dessert:
-My famous *from scratch* devil's food chocolate cake (not for me, of course!)
-Left over Xmas cookies (not for me)
-SF Jello with Redi-Whip (oh heck yes, I had this!)

Beverages:
-A very good 2005 Riesling
-Pinot Noir
-2 kinds fo non-alc sparkling cider
(I partook of none of these, but stuck with some plain seltzer)

So... the reason I feel so darn good today is that I was able to 1) not lick the bowl when I made the choco cake; 2) resist eating any of the pumpernickel and spinach dip; 3) resist eating my butter biscuits [believe me, I even like the raw dough; and 4) abstaining from the vino, which i love; and 5) passing on the sugar desserts and sticking with a parfait of SF jello with whip cream.

Just for fun, after the guests left, I went upstairs to check and I was still in ketosis. I mean, I knew that I should have been, but seeing the purple color is reaffirming.

Didn't get a chance to exercise yesterday (not unless you consider house cleaning like a fiend), but am planning a long walk outside today. Weather if warm here for January.

Renee

Wow that sounds really great! I wish sugar-free jello didn't have aspartame. SIGH. Ah well

That is really great and encouraging.
I am having a birthday party for my one year old next week and I know I will get through the party ok - it's not licking the bowl when I ice the cookies that will be my problem!

Well done for planning an induction-legal menu you could stick to

BUT - Rediwhip I think is not induction-legal!
From other posts I gather it has sugar and so most people on Atkins whip plain cream and add their own legal sweetener.
As we dont have it over here in UK I might be wrong, but check the label for ingredients listing sugar or corn syrup or another alias of sugar to make sure.

oh, it has some sugar, HFCS or other evil sweetener, but you know, the label reads <1g carbs per serving (2 tablespoons), and i'm just not beating myself up for that. it was worth it to me to be able to enjoy that with some aspartame-laden SF jello while others ate my yummy chocolate cake.

really, i think we need to use some practicality when making choices here. and if it didn't knock me out of ketosis or cause me to become a sugar maniac (which it didn't), then i'll do it again.
