The wings are fine but you need to check the carb content on the sauce it is cooked in.

Default Re: 2 Questions...

Check the ingredients list of the imitation butter spread. I found this info on amazon
Quote:
Ingredients
"Liquid Soybean Oil And Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Water, Sweet Cream Buttermilk, Salt, Vegetable Mono And Diglycerides, Soy Lecithin, (Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate) As Preservatives, Citric Acid, Artificial Flavor, Vitamin A (Palmitate), Colored With Beta Carotene."
I would go for butter instead as I am trying not to eat hydrogenated fats.
AS for the wings - I did a google and could only find the nutrition info
http://www.fosterfarms.com/products/...ductcode=90970 which on the face of it looks fine if you count one carb for every 4 wing sections (3 ounces).
BUT you need to look at the actual ingredients (which are not listed on the website) to be certain. The packet ought to list these, so make sure everything on the ingredients list is also on the allowed list for induction and you wont go wrong!

Ditto what Elizellen said. You need to read the actual ingredients on the foods you eat and then compare those ingredients to the list of acceptable foods. In case you haven't seen this, the list can be found here:

What foods can be eaten on Induction?

I would use real butter also. It's one of my favorite things about this WOE!

We these too, here are the ingredients, hopefully someone can tell us if they are OK.

Chicken wing sections
Water
Buffalo sauce (pepper sauce(aged cayenne pepper, vinegar, salt)water, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, distilled vinegar, spice, modified corn starch, salt, natural flavor, xanthan gum)
contains less then 2% of wheat flour, partially hydrogenated wheat flour, partially hydrogentated sybean oil, modified food starch, rice flour, sodium phosphate, salt, spices, distilled vinegar, natural flavor, xantham gum, spice extractive parfried in vegetable oil

Seems to me there area number ofthings that that arent good, but the nutritional panel calls it only one carb so it's a bit confusing!

Thanks for posting that info, Grant.

So with corn starch, wheat flour and rice flour (in small amounts but still there) it might not be the best choice for induction.

Go for the real butter! It's important to eat enough fat on this WOE--that's what our bodies are burning for fuel. I buy butter when it's on sale, and I buy about 6 or 8 pounds at a time. I should keep for a while in the fridge. I have really grown to love the taste of it, and can't imagine NOT eating it now!

Oh yes!!!

Fresh chicken wing sections (or frozen...but just plain chicken wings) You can fry them or you can bake them. I bake mine just because it's easier for me.

Once they are cooked, toss them with melted butter and Franks Red Hot hot sauce.

MMMMM mmmmm MMMMMm mmmmmm

With any thing, you should tally the carbs. And a lot of time, you may see zero carbs for a single serving, which you should round up to 1 (or more) for every 2 servings, if there are traces of not-so-great additional ingredients. Labels often adjust serving size down so carbs are just under .5g carbs, just so they can legally say 0g/serving!

www.fitday.com can help you keep track of your total carbs (you subract the grams fiber to get your net) and the percentage of your day to day intake of fat, protein and carb. These should be 65/30/5 during induction. But even some things you might not think of counting will add carbs up if you eat enough of them, such as eggs or herbs & spices.
So for the wings or "ICBIN Butter", you don't really want the illegal additives, but if you account for every carb and keep your totals right you'll be OK.

shhhh.... (Someone's going to shoot me for saying that - but hey, IMHO it's like cheese, do so in moderation! Even bacon usually is cured with a trace of sugar. Better to succeed with the diet over the long haul than give up because you feel too restricted in your choices.)
