Peanut butter gets added with legumes I believe. That sounds like the regular Skippy (creamy version) to me for the net carb counts...

Some people add it on the nuts rung, some on the legumes.

Peanuts are evil little buggers. They are sooooooooooooo good and Ican't stop at a serving and this usually includes peanut butter.

Peanut butter is allowed on the nut rung. Try and avoid Skippy and Jiff and buy all natural peanut butter. The only thing on the ingredients list should be peanuts and salt. And please be careful about portions. Its easy to go over with peanut butter. I remember from my last time on Atkins....yikes!

I thought they're actually legumes though.. or is this one of those funny lines that will confuse me for the rest of my natural existance?

As joy said some add it on nuts, some on legumes. If you are going to eat other nuts as well..you may want to try eating them first on the nut rung, if you don't have an issue then maybe try the peanut butter.

Peanut butter and nuts in general are a problem for alot of people. Many people (myself included) have portion control issues.

You're not confused. They ARE legumes. A lot of people add them on the "nut" rung though (I honestly can't remember when I added mine now) -- a decision that has more to do with custom than biochemistry, I think.

They are actually legumes in the botanical sense - the definition of legume being edible seed enclosed in a pod...so there you go - as for the culinary sense and the way it would be applied to the Atkins WOE, roasted shelled peanuts are listed under Nuts and Seeds on page 174 of DANDR THE POWER OF FIVE...
