Default Wasa high fiber flat bread or low carb tortilla?

I noticed on the sample Atkins menus that Wasa high fiber flat bread and low carb tortillas are allowed. Is this ok today? I'm just checking becasue the last time I did Atkins I used some of the Atkins bars and it ruined my induction period. I haven't done Atkins since then because it frustrated me so much.

HOwever, now that I see that you can use these types of breads I'm tempted to give it a try during induction, as long as there aren't any complications with them. Does anyone know?

Thanks!

Hi Shams,

I don't know the ingredients in these products, but I'm guessing they are more appropriate for the whole wheat rung, when one is closer to their goal weight...they don't sound suitable for induction.
Hopefully someone more experienced will chime in.

Wow, I just came to post the exact same question ..

http://www.atkins.com/articles/atkin...ion-meal-plan/

The atkins website itself lists during the first breakfast '1 slice bran crisp bread or Wasa high fiber flat bread' and lists the total net carbs as 3 .. I though NO bread was allowed (which was the hardest part of atkins), but maybe somebody has some insights?

It even lists using soya-flour for pancakes which would be absolutely amazing!

Do not go by the Atkins website. After Dr. Atkins death the company changed up so many rules. Here on the board we follow the 2002 version of the book. If you go by the website you are not following it the way the good doctor intended. Keep those items for when you enter the grains rung which someone above already stated.

As has been said Atkins the company has changed its rules to allow the use of its products but here we stick to the rules as stated in DANDR 2002.

The glaring alteration Atkins the company has made is to the Rules of Induction
compare the following:
In DANDR the Rules for Induction Dr Atkins says this
Quote:
4. Eat absolutely no fruit, bread, pasta, grains, starchy vegetables or dairy products other than cheese, cream or butter. Do not eat nuts or seeds in the first two weeks. Foods that combine protein and carbohydrates, such as chickpeas, kidney beans and other legumes, are not permitted at this time.
Now Atkins.com (Atkins the company) say this
Quote:
3. Eat absolutely no fruit, bread, pasta, grains, starchy vegetables or dairy products other than cheese, cream or butter. Do not eat nuts or seeds in the first two weeks. Foods that combine protein and carbohydrates, such as chickpeas, kidney beans and other legumes, are not permitted at this time.
so far so good but then they add this extra clause
Quote:
If you feel you must eat bread or some other grain product, only high fiber low-carb products with 3 net carbs or less per serving are allowed, and you can eat only one serving a day. Be aware that even that amount may slow or stall your progress, and if that happens, drop the product immediately.
Also Dr Atkins said in DANDR
Quote:
5. Eat nothing that is not on the acceptable foods list. And that means absolutely nothing! Your "just this one taste won't hurt" rationalization is the kiss of failure during this phase of Atkins.
and Atkins.com also says this
Quote:
4. Eat nothing that isn't on the Acceptable Foods list. And that means absolutely nothing. Your "just this one taste won't hurt" rationalization is the kiss of failure during this phase of Atkins.
Just how they think that their rule #4 (DANDR rule #5) allows them to add their little plug for 'high fibre lowcarb products in their rule #4 (DANDR rule #3) I just don't know!!!

Actually, the DANDR 2002 book also has this breakfast on it's sample one-week induction menu (pg 234) :

Two ounces cream cheese sprinkled with cinnamon and flaxseeds
Two bran-a-crisp crackers

That's (6@ -2g fiber@) 8g of carbs from the crackers alone, so I wouldn't choose to eat this for breakfast. I assume this is in there to keep things, um, moving.

It's very confusing when the book conflicts with itself!
