Default I have an emergency question......

tomorrow (2nd day on restart of atkins trying to do it totally by the book...usually i still have diet soda & regular iced tea...trying decaf and no diet soda at all) my bosses are treating us all to a pizza party and it will seem bad if i dont participate. I was thinking that if i just eat the toppings (cheese, meat, olives, mushrooms ect...) and not the crust that that would be induction friendly. does that sound ok or should i grad a piece pertend to eat it (cut it up or just talk so much they dont notice i am not eating) i was going to bring a slimfast shake or a v8 so that they wouldnt notice me drinking that later at my desk. tell me what ya'll think.

thanks in advance for the help.

Eating the top only sounds like a good plan to me, but watch out for the tomato sauce, as thats likely to have added carbs.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I would just bring my own lunch. Say you don't like pizza, or are trying to eat healthier or something. I wouldn't be offended if I were your co-workers or bosses, I'd just think, "Hey more pizza for everyone else!" You could eat your lunch BEFORE the pizza party, then you won't be tempted while everyone else chows down.

If you feel that this is in bad taste, then just eat the pizza toppings. BUT, watch your cheese intake, remember you're limited to 3-4oz. per day, and you could easily eat that off a few pieces of pizza. Also make sure you count the carbs in the cheese, sauce, meats and veggies you'll be eating.

Another thing that will help is to drink LOTS of water!

Eat the toppings. Are they going to bring in salad too? make sure to bring your water bottle and have that instead of the soda. If they aren't brining in salad with the pizza, maybe you could bring salad enough to share with everyone? That way you are contributing to the party, yet keeping yourself legal. That's what I'd do.

Just let him know, you appreciate the wonderful reward, however, you are trying to reach some goals yourself by losing weight and strving for a healthier lifestyle. Just eating the top (veggies/cheese) the tomato sauce most take out pizza parlor's use, are chocked full of sugar. I hope that helps!

I agree with Joy -- if there isn't any salad planned for the party, bring one! It isn't too pricey to put together and people will be so thankful, it's a nice gesture!

People don't notice what we eat as much as we think they do, especially if we don't make a big deal out of it. Your plan of only eating the top should work fine, I just hope no one asks you why you didn't eat the rest. *laughing*

Personally, I'd eat my lunch/snack at my desk before every one gathers. Then I'd just keep chatting with people instead of getting in line for pizza. When the line is all run out if someone asks I'd say, "you know, I'm just not hungry." , shrug, and change the subject.

I'm sure the gift your bosses want to give you is in appreciation for hard work, and not meant to derail your efforts to be healthy. If they do ask you point blank, just tell them how much you appreciate the thought. It IS very nice of them.

Good luck!!!
