| Good luck to you. I'm sorry to see that your doctor hasn't been keeping up with the latest medical studies about low glycemic diets and carbohydrate controlled diets. That's unfortunate. But I'm sure one day he/she will take the time to re-educate him/herself on cutting edge nutritional and medical information.

| Not2Late, I have to say I'm scared of all the fat I'm eating. I'm trusting this diet to be what I need. So far after 6 days my cravings are pretty much gone. I've lost 4 pounds and wish it were more. I have high cholesterol and will be having that checked in a couple of weeks. Could You please advise me as to how many calories in a day I should be eating. I've been falling around 1500. It's hard to keep the calories down with such high fat content. I'm still on the hunt for Dr Atkins book. You said 2002 edition correct? Can I have it's full title please and also could you please give me some encouragement on weight loss and the amount of fat we are aloud to eat. I realize it's "good" fat but it's still high. By the way those Marie Dressings are crazy delicious! Thank You |

You might want to read a few books about this: Know Your Fats by Mary P. Enig Cholesterol Myths by Uffe Ravnskov, M.D., Ph.D The Great Cholesterol Con by Anthony Colpo Since we don't eat margarine or vegetable shortening on Atkins, the fats we eat are natural ones, like olive oil, butter and even the bits of fat attached to meats. Natural fats are good fats. Also we don't eat "a lot" of fat. There's a sticky thread near the top of this forum about how much fat we should be eating. It amounts to about a tablespoon of added fat per meal. So a tablespoon of olive oil on your salad veggies is the right amount.
