| Did you eat anything salty or high in sodium..or did you weigh yourself just after eating a meal? I usually weigh myself in the morning after I have gone to the bathroom but BEFORE I eat or drink anything.

| I have found when I drink soda like D. Coke I retain water...so THAT could be it. How much sodium does it have? When I am craving something sweet I treat myself to a Diet A & W and I don't retain anything. It has 70g of sodium but 0 on everything else. Push your water today and I am sure tomorrow that 1lb gain will be history.

| Our weight fluctuates throughout the day as well as from day to day - and not always downward I am afraid. If seeing an upward blip is going to spoil your day try not to weigh frequently

| Thanks again ladies your the best... MisMel, D.coke only has 40g of sodium so not as bad as some sodas I guess. But I have been good today and not drank one can. I use to drink up to 6 a day so this is VERY good for me. Ive stepped up the water too and I will keep away from the scales until its been a week for me which will be next Thursday.

| I think it depends on how much you drink in a day. I have a friend who drinks at least a 2 liter a day...that IS her water and then she wonders why she is bloated. She is also on a dieretic and I have tried to tell her if she got rid of the soda and drank water and watched her overall salt intake she could lose that medication. I just don't think it will happen anytime too soon. lol I am sure you will see positive results come Thursday. Goodluck~

| whats going on is that the weight we can carry in our head is much greater than the weight we carry on our bodies and it is essential for our freedom and happiness to lose it. your body needs time to make metabolic adjustments. this is not a time that your ego sets - but a time that a much abused from carbs body sets on its own. you may want to be your bodys dictator, but thats not fair to your body. please give your body the time and the trust it deserves. as someone who has been doing atkins since february of 2005, trust me that the process works. i haven't been on the scale in months and months. i no longer care what that number reads. my clothes fit. i can eat as much food as i want to. i'm free. but the true miracle is that i no longer sabatoge myself with antiquainted rituals that cannot nuture me. i don't play the low esteem because of a scale number anymore. please read all the stickys at the top of this forum. set yourself a goal to go two entire weeks on induction without weighing. it will be so good for you. i soon learned to go entire months without weighing, and now an entire year. also note that you can lose entire sizes on atkins and not see any scale movement at all. it happened to me. so put your attention on what matters - nuturing yourself with healthy food, and let that silly scale number go go go....

| Hey aussieinaz! How are you? I just wanted to pop in a post here since I tend to let the scale affect my feelings. I for one, have to weigh everyday. It is just what I do and it helps me to keep my weight in check. Everyday that I step on the scale I remind myself that I have choices to make throughout the day. Anyhow, what I have learned to do is to weigh everyday for a week. Then I add them all of that weeks weight together and divide by 7 to get my weeks average. That is what I then deicide, compared to the last week average, whether or not I had a gain, loss, or maintained. I have found this to be effective because, from day to day, your weight can fluctuate a bit up and a bit down depending on TOM, foods eaten, etc. "Averaging" gives a more stable way to gauge ones progress, I feel! Hang in there, stick with us, and we'll help you along the way.
