| Often times when I am out and about without food I will stop for a cheeseburger, plain, without the bun. My favorites are flying dutchmen at In and Out (which are just two meat patties and two pieces of cheese) or Triple Cheeseburgers from Wendys, plain, then ditch the bun. You can also get side salads at Wendys that are pretty good. Burger King has their bacon stackers, if you get it plain then you get meat, cheese and bacon. Then I would bring things in your purse from home like slices of jicama for the muchies, or cheese sticks. Maybe some olives in a little baggie. |

| I would suggest taking a cooler with enough food and water to see you through in case what is available is not suitable. The last thing you want to do is have to stress about there being no acceptable foods to eat!! I hope all goes well with your little one

| Bring a small cooler of food with you: bring a real meal----fat, protein and carb. Just don't do the 'snacks' route because if those snacks aren't substantial enough, you may be tempted to raid the candy bar machine. Most nurses stations have a break room with a microwave. Ask your child's nurse if you can re-heat your meal in the microwave. Also, many hospitals have waiting rooms either on the same floor as the ward or on the ground floor. These waiting rooms often have snack machines and microwaves.

| I was at the hospital several times with family and friends. I always pack a small cooler with leftover meats, meatballs, cheese and pre-portioned veggies, jerky, porkrinds, tuna packets, avacado, and/or other legal snacks. Take a cup for your water so you can keep refilling it. If there isn't a microwave...the nurses have always been more than happy to let me use one in the employee lounge. If the wait is long, you can also take a walk through the halls for something to do instead of sitting in the lounge and watching tv. This relieves stress for me and keeps me from getting depressed and tired. Best wishes to your 2 year old. I'm sending you both love and prayers.
