Question Cream Cheese?

Cream Cheese is on the approved foods list for the induction phase. However, the Cream Cheese that I have seen all have 2g of sugar. Isn't this a no-no?

What brand is that? and make sure it isn't a low fat one..because the low fat ones have all the sugar..

I have a 8 ounce block of Philadelphia Original Cream cheese here It has 1g carb... Sugars are <1g. Protein 2g

Philadelphia and Lucerne and some other off brands... but they're in the little tubs. It's not the low fat... just regular.

I just happen to have a tub of the Philadelphia one.. I don't know why its different between a tub and a block.. But I do see the sugar carbs on this tub (it was my daughters before Atkins for her bagels)

I am sure someone else will have some knowledge on it.. I would by the blocks from now on that say Original. I am not sure what the difference is in Regular and Original though.. Strange isn't it.

Check the serving size as well...some brands have a serving set as 1 tablespoon while others have it as 2 tablespoons. All the ones I've seen that said 2g of carbs are listed as 2g per 2tblsp while the ones that have 1g are listed as a 1tblsp serving.

I believe Philidelphia yields the lowest at 2 total carbs per 2 tablespoons or 1 ounce. Most of the others yield 2 carbohydrates, so I always recommend the former for my recipes unless another brand of equal "carb value" can be found.

check out your local 'store brand' cream cheese too.
I found that Waitrose soft cheese has half the carbs of Philly!!

The lower fat Kraft Neufchatel Cheese actually has less than 1 gram of carb per ounce. I like it better because it's softer.
