| Hi there! No, I don't think that's the case. It usually takes 2-3 days to get into ketosis but every body is different. You may just be taking longer, period. Are you faithfully keeping track of your carbs? Fitday is a really helpful tool for this. It's not mandatory, but it does help. You would be suprised at how many things that have zero carbs in a singular amount but have a carb count when more than one is eaten. Are you reading labels? Manufacturer have this thing about filling our food with all sorts of nasty things that are unsuitable not only for Atkins but human consumption, in general. Lastly, don't put too much faith in those stix. Over the years, I've seen numerous folks who are in ketosis and were never once able to change the color on a ketostick. Now that you have felt the reprecussions of a carb binge, is it safe to say you won't be doing that again any time soon? I wish you the best of luck and success! |

| Keep going... Carb binges will do that to you. I'm in maintenance and if I have a carb loaded day I can gain 5lbs easy in the one day. Mostly water weight, obviously fat can't build up that quickly! this is a critical point for you though. Induction is the time to break those addictions. Remember how this binge made you feel, physically and emotionally. I always feel super bloated the next day and usually have lots of stomach issues! That keeps me on the straight and narrow for quite a while.

| phew! thanks higgies! I guess i was afraid it was fat!!! And PaulaMM, I have been using fitday, it is GREAT!!! I don't "think" i am missing any hidden carbs but i will definetely check it out! Thanks guys!

| Hi alaska! I know from the last time I did Atkins that binging and then getting back, on and off, was a bad idea. My body would just kept taking longer to get into ketosis. It will eventually, just don't give up. Oh, and don't do it again. BTW, I noticed you're in Oak Harbor. I live really close to you. Cool!

| Hey! thanks for the post...that is neat we are so close. I am stationed at NAS Whidbey Island. It is beautiful! anyways, hopefully my body will go into ketosis soon...
