| Were you using the same scale and weighing under similar circumstances (ie: same time of day, wearing the same clothing,etc.)? In general, we can expect to lose between 5-10% of the weight we need to lose during the first 14 days of Atkins. So a person with a 10 pound weight loss goal can expect to lose 1/2 to 1 pound and a person with a 100 pound weight loss goal can expect to lose 5-10 pounds. Is it possible for a person with a 50 pound weight loss goal to lose 20 pounds in 2 weeks? Yes it is, provided that person has a very low metabolic resistance to weight loss. As for water v. fat loss....The initial weight loss for all diets is water. Dr. Atkins wrote that after the first few days, the majority of the weight loss on his diet is primarily fat---provided you are doing the diet correctly. Sometimes we get people who think that by tweaking Atkins (ie: eating low fat, eating very low calorie, eating no vegetables, etc.) is "doing Atkins correctly" or will "enhance" their losses. I feel sorry for these folks because they don't understand that Atkins isn't a "crash" diet and that Atkins doing Atkins incorrectly can lead to muscle loss along with fat loss.

| WOW Congrats to you! I have barely lost 4 pounds in the week and a half since I started. But I do feel alot better so I am happy, but 20 pounds would have made me jump up and down or something....just WOW WOW WOW

Loss of glycogen is associated with loss of water weight, since the body stores up to four pounds of water for each pound of glycogen." but just couldn't find out how much glycogen we have |
