| ACCEPTABLE FOODS Foods you may eat liberally: All fish, fowl, shellfish, meat, eggs including: tuna ,chicken, oysters*, beef, scrambled eggs, salmon, turkey, mussels*, pork, fried eggs, sole, duck, lobster, lamb, poached eggs, trout, goose, clams, bacon**, soft-boiled eggs, flounder, cornish hen, squid, veal, hard-boiled eggs, sardines, quail, shrimp, ham** ,deviled eggs, herring ,pheasant, crabmeat, venison, omelettes *Oysters and mussels are higher in carbs than other shellfish so limit them to four ounces per day. **Processed meats such as ham, bacon, pepperoni, salami, hot dogs and other luncheon meats-and some fish-may be cured with added sugar and will contribute carbs. Try to avoid meat and fish products cured with nitrates, which are known carcinogens. Also beware of products that are not exclusively meat, fish or fowl, such as imitation fish, meatloaf and breaded foods. Finally, do not consume more than four ounces of organ meats a day. Enjoy them, they contain OMEGA-3 fatty acid. Last edited by loo-see; July 22nd, 2007 at 02:31 AM. Reason: editing |

| Shrimp are fine assuming they were not coated in some high-carb sauce. Try to find out if food is 'legal' before eating it if you can, it will save you a lot of worries!! I used to carry a list of the allowed foods with me when I started Atkineering just to make sure I made correct choices. Though you probably were joking about the 'pigged out' comment, remember we are supposed to stop eating once we are satisfied, not stuff ourselves, even on induction-legal foods.
