Default What if you reach your goal during Induction?

Hi, everyone. I hope I can make this question make sense, so please bear with me. My husband decided to join me on Atkins and started induction last Saturday. He only wants to lose 10-15 pounds and has already lost 6 or 7. At the rate he's going, he'll reach his goal within the 2 week induction period. So then what? I've been on Atkins for almost 2 months now and I'm working up the rungs and still losing. However, if he doesn't need to lose anymore, what does he need to eat? Does he skip the rungs and move straight to pre-maintenance? Should his induction be less than 2 weeks? I'm really confused on this one.

For a little background, he hasn't read the book (and won't ) and is relying on me and a few coworkers for information. I'm playing the role of his personal nutritionist right now and fix all of his meals including packing him a lunch, so whatever I fix for him is what he eats. He's fine with that and has said he's eating alot better and more than before Atkins. However, it puts me in the spot of making sure I get it right. I want to help him out as much as possible because he's been so supportive of me. So what comes next for him?

Also, I realize this isn't an induction question, but I'm only on the nuts rung and I may hit my goal before finishing the rungs. Then what do I do? Any help will be much appreciated.

He used to be a competitive cyclist, so he has a lot of muscle mass going for him already. His only regular exercise now is mountain biking once a week, but he's not doing that during induction. Between the induction flu and the 105 temps we're having, biking is out. So he's pretty much riding the couch this week.

Like you, Tracy I have a DH who is happy to eat Atkins alongside me but no interest in finding out how to do it by himself.

I would suggest letting him continue with induction for the 14 days then moving him up OWL fairly quickly. The main trouble I can see will be in getting him to try and recognise any problems his body would have with the reintroduced foods.

I doubt he would end up by losing too much weight as our body is very self-protective and even people with body image disorders/eating obsessions take a long time to damage themselves.

I'm not worried about him losing too much, but about him immediately regaining what he's lost. While it's been a little bit of a hassle to pack his lunch every day, I'm hoping to keep it up as long as possible to help him stay away from the pizza, etc. When you say move through the rungs fairly quickly, do you mean less than a week on each?

Thanks for your help. If he's going to put the weight back on, I want it to be in spite of me, not because of me!
