| You should do a 14 day fully clean induction, alcohol is not added until OWL... so everyone on here will say dont do it, i'll just say, if you do do it stick to vodka & a diet soda, then do 14 days of clean induction after it, at least then youve minimised the damage.

| Irish I feel for you! I am a very social person and I love my wine. But induction is induction and well, you need to decide what is more important to you. You can drink on this WOE, just not right now. If you do decide to drink anyway eat a healthy Atkins meal beforehand, drink tons of water and stay away from mixers. If you are in ketosis beware that the alcohol will hit you harder and the ill effects, like a hangover, will be stronger... they were for me anyway when I finally got to drink. |

| I just order sparkling water with ice and lemon when out with others who are drinking. It looks the same as a vodka and tonic!! And I get just as daft and giggly as they do too - 'drunk on life' I suppose .If you do decide to drink alcohol be aware that as well as probably getting drunk on less booze you might find your decisions on what to eat tend to veer away from Atkins-legal food, so try to stay strong so as not to wake up surrounded by empty doritos packets!!

| I found this link interesting. I too have a hard time staying away from alcohol. Now I know that it's not allowed on induction, but I found the information interesting. http://books.google.com/books?id=5rr...9rc7-OTuuHzMD8 Good luck, and have fun. |

| Alcohol will burn before fat so you will have to burn off the alcohol before. the only other problem you might have is your willpower will lower and you could end up eating high carb snacks that are so common when you get drunk. Happens to me, sometimes. If I get the urge to eat, try salami or peperoni, nuts (not induction friendly but better than downing some chips). I also challenge you to explore information on the net regarding wine and low-carb dieting.

| While we don't count calories, calories most certainly count. The carbs in alcohol aren't the only thing you need to worry about. It's a TON of empty calories that add up entirely too quickly. A shot of clear alcohol (vodka/rum/gin/etc) is approximately 70 calories per ounce. Most bars pour a jigger, not just a shot - so you're looking at a minimum of 105 calories per drink- assuming you're using sugar free mixers- and that's also going to be dependent on how well you tip (bigger tip=stronger drink=bigger - in more ways than one. LOL). It's not just about burning off the alcohol to get back in ketosis. I am someone who goes dancing (or did up until about a year ago) almost every weekend without fail. If the weight removal is what's truly important to you, you'll adjust your habits - your lifestyle- to reflect that choice and make it happen. It isn't always easy, but there's no reason in the world why you can't go party and drink a diet coke or water. I wish you success! ~Brook

| In addition to what everyone has said, while your body is busy burning off that alcohol, it's busy storing the fat, protein and carbs you ate as body fat.
