WNY PAT is on a distinguished road
Default Day 7 And Going "Strongish"?

So, weighed in at 237 pounds this morning - 12 pounds less than one week ago. I know it is a lot of water weight - but still feels like a huge victory given that I could never really lose weight in the past. I'm excited to weigh in next Monday - that ought to be a better indicator of fat loss.

Well, I had a perfect first week until last night... although I didn't completely fall apart or anything. At a big family dinner I ate salad and steak and there was squash on the table. I asked if there was sugar added to the squash - answer was no (and some in the family don't take this diet too seriously or understad why it is so important to avoid sugar). I had remembered seeing squash on the ok but in very small quantities list so I had about a tablespoon of it with a bit of butter. Boy did it taste good - too good. I asked again - there's really no sugar in that? "Well, there's just some brown sugar, that's all - not regular sugar." I'd eaten so little of it - I didn't really think anything of it - and I had exercised a lot earlier in the day, further leading me to believe this didn't matter. I shrugged it off.

Anyway, about 30 minutes pass and all of a sudden I swear I am back to square one in terms of craving sugar and calories.... and from literally one big spoonful of squash. Here, all week long, I'd eaten even less food at each meal and felt full until the next meal. Now I had just finished a BIG piece of steak and a good size salad.... and I felt absolutely STARVING. My stomach was growling, I didn't feel full... it was the same process that resulted in me eating so much in the past. In a way I'm glad I felt it, because in a couple weeks when I come off induction, I'm going to have to be REALLY careful.

BTW - I ate a hardboiled egg - no effect on those cravings. The only thing that stopped it was a bunch of sit ups and a bit of walking on the treadmill. I guess I am officially "Glocose Dependent." So, I know the ketosticks don't matter for everyone - but seeing those remain (I check twice a day for fun - hey I bought 100 of the things) a nice deep purple color last night and again this morning is reassuring when you mess up a little.

So, 7 days down, 14 (or maybe 21) to go. Thanks for the support and these great forums all!

Grats on fighting off the cravings--continuing on plan after a slip-up is the hardest part for so many of us. 12 lbs in your first week is great, and keep up the good work!!!

Well done for staying 'legal' after the slip with the squash/sugar (it's funny how people think if it is brown sugar or honey or molasses then it somehow doesnt count as sugar to be avoided!!).

If you are not yet at the 'starchy veg' level/rung of OWL many squashes are not allowed yet.
The only ones allowed on induction are the so-called 'summer squashes', which does not include butternut, acorn and several other starchy squashes.
