| thirst is a good sign, it can take your body 3-5 days to get in to ketosis, though if you have the thirst, you're at the start Dont stress the scales, did you measure when you started? you only have 15 pounds to lose so it will come off a lot slower than someone who has more to lose. Your best bet would just to weigh once a week or even just once at the end of the 14 day induction.

| Along with what Emma wrote, weight loss is dependent on alot of things, including your age, your sex, any medications you are taking, any medical problems you have, etc. For Atkins, we can expect to lose 5-10% of the weight we need to lose in the first 14 days. For a person with a 10 pound weight loss goal, that's about 1/2 to 1 pound. For a person with a 100 pound weight loss goal, that's about 5-10 pounds.

| Don't worry about it jmlp, just keep going and don't pay much attention on the scale right now.. stick to your diet plan, exercise and drink as much water as you can drink in a day.. You do that, and I promise you, you will see real results. There is no question there. Logically, statistically and even biologically, if you stick to the plan you WILL loose weight. I read an amazing statistical analysis report on people doing Atkins, but couldn’t find it to port it in here in this forum.. but will look again. Meanwhile, read this article which provides similar conclusion to what that research was all about. http://bestlowcarbs.com/article1022.html

| I am in day 7 of induction and have resisted the temptation to weigh myself but I can TELL that I am losing weight by the way my clothes are fitting. I do not plan to weigh until 12/15 which will be the end of my 14 day induction. I am soooooo hopeful of a substantial loss but even if it is only a few pounds (and I have 75 to lose) I will continue this way of eating because I feel great and know that eventually I will be at my goal weight.Since your BMI is already in the "normal" range I would expect that your weight loss would be slow since you most likely have relatively little fat to burn so it seems logical that your loss would be quite gradual. Like other said, focus on how you feel and try not to let the scale get you down!! Pam |
