| First of all, "eating what's allowed in induction" is not enough. You still need to stick to the main induction rule which is MAXIMUM of 20 carbs. Have you counted your carbs already? If you think you have exceeded the 20g carbs, Ithen, no biggy, just I would restrat induction to have it as clean as possible. Second, amount counts too. You should eat to kill the hunger.. That's pretty much it, if you feel that you are stuffed, then most likely you were eating for joy not for hunger.. I have been once a vegetarian for two years and didn't loose a bit of weight during these two years (was not looking to that anyway) but was complaining to one of close vegetarian friends about it and he told me that it really depends on how much you eat and joked about it saying, "elephants are vegetarians, does that mean they should loose weight?!".. So, I would sure stick to the plan down to every single detail. My advice here would be.. redo the induction, stick to the 20g carbs, eat to kill your hunger not because of joy or bad mood, etc., drink a lot of water and execersie.. Did you get the chance to read Dr. Atkins book?

| Thank you for your reply. Yes, I read the book. In fact, I just started reading it again. And believe it or not, my carb count was EXACTLY 20. Today, I believe I was eating for joy. I guess I should have planned ahead. The number of calories really threw me for a loop. I don't exercise enough, I will admit. Thanks again for your reply. I appreciate anyone and everyone's advice and/or criticism. |

| Yes, planning ahead is the best way to control your portion sizes as well as the ratios of carbs, protein and fat that you will consume. This is a learning process. We all learn as we go. We learn to make the best choices to do the plan and make it work for us. If you keep a food journal, you will be more focused on what to eat because you must write it down each day and see how it affects you. Keep faith in yourself and stay committed. The fact that you are using fitday and being aware of your actions shows you are planning to succeed. And you will!!!

| I think you did "well". No, you weren't right on target and everyone has given you good suggestions, BUT, you didn't eat cake and icecream. That says to me that you are dedicated to this WOE, and with a bit of better planning, you're next birthday party or event, you might just be on target. And WHAT you ate, despite the calories, will probably set you back a LOT less than if you ate cake and icecream. You've won half the battle. Not eating for pleasure, at least to me, is an even tougher batlle. When you've refined WHAT to eat, with HOW MUCH to eat, you'll know it....you'll feel it. |

| If your net carbs were 20, then you are doing well. Yea, try to take care o fthe portions next time, but in general what you did is fine and shouldn't ruin your induction at all. Fitday does a great job in tracking your diet.. Good choice there. I think the diet ration best around 65% fat, 5% carbs and 30% protein.

| You did well to stick to Atkins legal foods. As for quantities... well, sure, you should eat to satisfy your hunger only; but it could have been much worse. Thinking about these issues, planning ahead, discussing things here... all help with the "next times". And there always are "next times". I'm positive that next time, you'll be more aware, so more controlled. Kudos to you for posting, talking, learning, sharing. Happy further losing!

| Don't count your calories...especially in the beginning..you need to get the bad carbs out.. and if you try to eat a 1200 calorie diet with all the high fat you are suppose to have you are going to starve... I think you did GREAT... You stayed in your carb count.. When you continue on the woe..and find you are not losing..the calories might be something you take a look at... |

| I appreciate the replies. I have been an emotional eater all my life and I think stuffing my face with all that cheese and pepperoni, etc.. was just my way of staying away from the cake and ice cream... because that cake looked and smelled wonderful! Again, thank you for the feedback. I guess it could have been much worse. Sincerely, Eselte |
