| I am on Day 3 and not really happy because.... my biggest problem is having the will power to tell myself no to junk food although the Atkins/low net-carb bars/shakes and sugar free jello help. I also found that since we are allowed to have 3 tbsp. of cream I mix the unsweetened cream with my sugar-free jello to make a parfait like treat |

| First off make sure you are not craving sweets because you are hungry for real food. One of Dr. Atkin's Rules is to not go more than 6 waking hours without eating. So if it's been 7 hours since your last proper meal and you're now craving something sweet, you might opt to eat a real meal, rather than a "low carb" sweet treat. Second, if it truly is a sweets craving, eat something high fat, like cheese, or something that combines fat and protein, like an egg or chicken mixed with mayo. When I was a newbie to ADBB, the mods here used to advise everyone to kill their sweet-tooth by starving it, because the more you feed it with sweet tasting foods, the more your sweet tooth will demand those foods. Also, be aware about the Atkins bars, shakes, etc. or any low carb bar, shake, etc. It's been the collective experience of ADBB that those low carb convenience foods can stop or slow down weight loss for some people. So we don't recommend them during the first 2 weeks of the Diet. Yes, we know that Atkins Nutritionals sells them and swear that they are okay to eat, but we also know what our member's have experienced. So if you choose to use them, be aware of their stopping/slowing potential.

| Do yourself a favor and buy some L-Glutamine and take it. It will STOP the cravings for sweets!

| The audio book probably does not contain all the information you need. The longer you stay on induction , the less sweet cravings you will have. Your appetite will change. Trust me. I can pass up free bagels and and free pizza at work. I could never do that at any time in my life before. I know you spent a lot of money on audio books , but I would encourage you to buy the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002 DANDR). It really takes about how to approach sweet cravings. Also there is an excellent thread: Addicted to Sweets? The Cephalic Phase Insulin Response Addicted to Sweets? The Cephalic Phase Insulin Response

| Mirya, The most important book is Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution, buy that, forget the rest, you will always need to refer back to this book so its best to buy it. You're hearing contradicting information and i understand it can be confusing. The bars should be avoided during your 14 day induction, you only eat foods off the acceptable foods list, ignore the fact that they are on any menu plans, these were introduced as a money making scheme and should be avoided at all costs. the S/F Jello is sweetened with aspartame, one of the sweetners that Dr A told us to avoid, so again, should be avoided during induction. However, aspartame affects about 80% of us, you could be in that lucky 20%, AFTER your 14 day induction add the jello in, if your weightloss stops, you know you have a problem with aspartame, like the most of us & need to avoid it. Is there anything else you're confused on?
