Default 1 full week on Atkins and nearly 6lbs gone

I have been on the induction now for nearly a week. Minor bumps for eating sweetened things like sugar free life savers and sugar free jello (btw 1/2 sugar free jello with about 1/4 tsp of sour cream is freaking awesome), the atkins morning bars I didn't realize weren't allowed until I found out that menu on the site that has them on it was made by the company NOT Dr. Atkins. I wonder how much I would have lost had I known all this from the beginning with all the water and good food I have been eating. I plan to do extended induction just to make sure I am completely clean due to the bumps in the road during my first week.....

Water retention is at a minimum <almost no indents>, I will admit I had a tiny tiny piece of broken off peppermint from a friends candy cane it was way too sweet so i spit it out. I am happier with this diet so far than I have been on any others and trust me I have been on many. Pill diets, liquid diets, chicken soup diet, salad diet, pasta and seafood only, so far I am much more satisfied, eat better now, not addicted to carbs/sugar/caffiene anymore although I crave it, not feeling run down during the day unless I have nightmares and am up all night and let me tell you these nightmares are some freaking doozies. Is it normal to have nightmares with diet change?

Anyway point is if the Doc was here today I would profusely thank him for sharing this wonderful idea for losing weight with the rest of the world.

Good job Mirya, keep it going!

I had nightmares too - and some REALLY weird dreams that were not exactly nightmares, like the one about various board games and their carb counts!!

I understand the impulse to stay on induction, but I'd urge you to move on to at least the first rung of OWL as soon as possible. That rung is just extra veg, they are good for you and give you a lot of extra choices during the day. Most people see no reduction in the rate of weight loss when moving there and many see an acceleration.

Great job so far. I never have nightmares but sometimes I dream I am eating carbs and I wake up mad and then I realize it was just a dream and I feel a lot better. I am okay with dream cheating if it keeps me on track in real life.

I dream cheat all the time, and it makes me feel awful in my dreams, and keeps me on track during the day. I feel so guilty and horrible in my dream that there is no way I want to feel that way in life. I also had smoking dreams when I quit smoking, and relapse dreams when I quit other things way back in the day. I think everytime the body purges itself of something toxic the brain sends off these dreams to remind one exactly what it was like in case there are second thoughts, or if it's enjoyable I think it's the ID trying to tempt back to destruction.

Either way, I've only had these type of dreams when I gave up smoking, drugs, and when I started Atkins. I never had these kinds of dreams on a low-calorie plan, and that tells me pretty much all I need to know right there.

Congrats on the 6 pound loss Mirya!!! That's awesome!

Weird dreams (not cheat related, just weird dreams and nightmares) have been linked to chromium. If you take a multi-vitamin that has chromium in it, there is a good chance that is the cause of your nightmares. If they become bothersome, to the point of interuppting sleep, or they are just really upsetting, try finding a vitamin that doesn't have the chromium in it.

thanks and I can totally see that being the case with the ID and all. I don't usuallyremember my dreams unless they are stressful and even today thinking back on that one it just disturbs me. I haven't had any since then so maybe it was just a fluke.
