| Hey all! My 1st Monday was pretty good, except for a HUGE mid-day cheat, but I'm pretending that it didn't happen otherwise I'll just say "F it!" and stop altogether. Breakfast was 2 scrambled eggs with bacon, tuna salad and celery sticks for lunch, 3 chicken drumsticks for late lunch, 2 mozzarella sticks for a snack, and dinner was 2 cups of cauliflower and some ground beef & onions stroganoff thing that my husband made, which was surprisingly good! He's not doing Atkins, but he was recently diagnosed with Type II diabetes so he does eat a lot of low-carb meals because of that. I tried to drink NO diet coke today, but ended up having a 20 oz. bottle at work PLUS a 12-oz. can when I got home. I'm used to drinking like 3-4 DC's a day, so I guess that's some improvement. I'm really trying hard not to beat myself up for not being perfect. I think in my past attempts at Atkins, I thought that any little flub meant that I was a failure. In my efforts to do things "by the book" I was too black & white about what was & wasn't Atkins. This is a good strategy if you're in the black, but not so much when you fall into the white! I don't even know if that makes sense, but if I have to cruise around the grey area until I figure it out, then I'm ok with that. Last edited by Effie; February 11th, 2008 at 07:21 PM. | Today was good. I'm PMS-y this week so I must stay extra focused. Breakfast 1 slice Cheeseburger Quiche Snack Cheddar Cheese square Lunch 2 cups lettuce Tuna Hidden Valley Ranch Peppercorn dressing 2 slices bacon Snack Minibel cheese circle Dinner Garlic Butter Roast 1 cup steamed broccoli My two downfalls - I totally porked out on the roast. I apparently proved Dr Atkins wrong about a person not being able to sit down to a movie and eat a grip of meat, LOL. My other downfall is I only drank about 64 ounces of water today and I was shooting for 100. I also did a very pathetic walk with my dog for exercise. Tomorrow will be better!

| Time for me to fess up - I stepped away from Atkins for 2 weeks and gained back 4 pounds. Semi-redstarted last week (had to give myself a couple extra days of fruit...my fav in the world and I had already bought it, so didn't want to waste it). So until today I've done lowcarb with a couple of cheats (I'm DEFINITELY NOT saying I was on plan!). Decided to get on plan again today. I've at least re-dropped the 4 pounds I had gained previously... So...tomorrow will be day 1 technically since I Started at dinner tonight. Dinner was a cube steak, some zucchini (saute'd in olive oil), and (this sounds kinda gross and I have a gassy belly 'cause of it) a can of deviled ham with some mustard. For drinks I have a VERY VERY hard time with water (it makes me gag - literally...and I love the 'taste' or lack thereof of it) so I drink grape kool-aid with Splenda (talked to my doc abt this as I'm type II diabetic and she was all for it). I think tomorrow I will have a glass of water for every glass of kool aid I allow myself...I'll try at least! |

| Hi! I started a little earlier, I hope you don't mind my joining this thread.....I started Thursday 02/07. My beginning weight was 152 and I am already down to 145. My goal is to be in the 115-120 range also. And this is like my third time around also. First time I lost 20lbs on induction and then got pregnant. My second time I only lost a couple pounds and gave up. This time its down to business for me..........though I have had a couple of scares....it seems every 48 hours my body goes into withdrawls and I start trembling, become very week, and my heart beats out of my chest. Not sure why, though I was used to eating LOTS of carbs. Anyway.......small road blocks.....nothing is stopping me this time, I already bought a new wardrobe of small clothes...motivation! My husband and I have three beautiful girls ages 6, 3 & 1. And now that we are done and there is nolonger a chance of pregnancy...It's time for me to quit looking like a child-bearer and start looking like the 25 year old I am! BTW I love the sound of that kieche....I could use some induction recipes, I am relying on eggs....chicken.....and salad....and the fried eggs are getting old, I can only take them so long, and after four days I'm ready for a new bkfst. Any ideas? Also, what do you do for sweets when you are craving? Thanks for letting me introduce myself........ Good luck to you and good luck to me Sarah |

| Hi everyone, figured I'd join this thread since I'm working on around the same goals and time frame as everyone else. This morning, I had scrambled eggs with onion, cheese, and cilantro, and half a cucumber. I'm having a hard time getting all my carbs in because all those veggies are just too much for me. I eat my portion of meat, and my portion of veggies, but to get all the carbs in, I'd just be eating too much. I'm petite like the rest of you. 5'0" (actually 4' 11 3/4" lol) and my goal weight is around 110. If I go smaller, I'd be happy too since my weight should range between 96 and 124 lbs. At least that's military standards for my age and height. Water is definitely not an issue for me. I'm drinking at least 5 - 16.9 oz bottles at work, and then 2 to 3 - 20 oz bottles at home. And the funny thing is, I don't feel like I'm getting enough of it. It's like I literally freak out if I don't have my water next to me. And boy, do I pee a lot!! My coworkers make fun of me. Well, back to work! Good luck to all! |

| Morning guys! Day 3 and I'm positively tired today but it has nothing to do with the diet. I had the great idea to stay awake until nearly 1am and then we had an amazing thunderstorm from about 2-4am. So when I finally fell asleep, I ended up sleeping in WAY late again - giving myself about 15 minutes to get ready AND pack meals! So my choices today are a little on the pathetic and un-veggie-licious side: Breakfast is yet another slice of the Cheeseburger Quiche (thank goodness it holds well in the fridge for a day or two!) and lunch is some carved "ose"-free (thats what I call sugar free foods, lol, no sucrose, dextrose, etc) turkey breast. Whats everyone doing for dinner? I should check out the dinner thread. I do have a spaghetti squash and was contemplating turning that into the Spaghetti Squash/Alfredo thingy-ma-bob that but if I'm as lazy later as I am right now, it looks like me and the hubby will be dining on the ever creative bunless burger and some steamed veggies. LOL. I'm with Kristi somewhat because I'm not a huge fan of a lot of vegetables and I'm a pretty poor cook, so it can make for a bad combo. But I'm trying to keep that "try something new" attitude you find everywhere on this board, especially because it is so important. I think we're going to pick up some asparagus and zuchinni or cucumber next time we're at the store. I want to dice up the cucumber and mix it into some tuna with mayo - it makes for a nummy mix to top onto a bed of lettuce. Hrmm.. breakfast ideas. I'd say eggs can get old fast so the key is variety. You can think outside the box and use things like dinner for breakfast, etc. My first go around I often had a fake taco (taco meat, cheese, lettuce shredded, etc in a bowl) in the mornings. But here's how I vary my egg-based breakfasts: Egg Ideas 01. Hardboiled eggs with bacon strips 02. Scrambled eggs with a sprinkle of cheese and some sausage links (check those labels!) 03. Cheeseburger Quiche slice 04. Quiche cups (I want to do these, haven't yet, gonna go buy a muffin pan soon so I can grab these on the go) 05. Omelet with endless possibilities (veggies, or cheese, or meat) 06. Open Omelet/Egg-Pizza (I let it fry into the tiny pan circle shape and then top it with cheese and meat) 07. Deviled eggs (mix the yolk with a bit of mayo and sprinkle with paprika) Here's how I get around big sugar cravings: 01. Celestial Seasonings brand (only! the others are gross) herbal teas: Blueberry, Strawberry Kiwi, Tangerine Orange or Raspberry 02. The occassional cup of coffee with 1 tbsp heavy cream and 1 tbsp Coffeemate Sugar-Free French Vanilla creamer I've also seen folks whip some baking cocoa, heavy cream and Splenda packets to make a mini portion of chocolate mousse - but I can't vouch if thats Induction friendly but I'm sure someone here could! Oh! And even though its only Day 3 and I promised myself I wouldn't hop on the scale until at least Day 7, I found myself standing on it this morning out of plain curiousity and its down 3.6 lbs!!! Maybe I had a HUGE bowel movement or something that I don't remember? *kidding, can you IMAGINE 3.6 lbs of poo?!* LOL - But yeah, water weight or what not, its still quite encouraging. I'm moreso excited to see what the inches say when it comes time for me to measure again. So congrats on our progress so far, ladies! And let's keep up the support! =)

| Good Morning....Good Morning! I too, can relate with not getting in all of my veggies.....it stems from my previous bad eating habits, I've never really been good at eating veggies. And speaking of horrible foods.....it is day 5 for me and I think my hunger is finally starting to go away, I'm sitting here looking at my breakfast bowl and I just cannot bring myself to eat it. BTW I did try something a little different this morning, and I'm sure someone might like it....microwaved (b/c its convienent) 2 eggs scrambled w/salt & pepper, diced veggies and shredded cheese. Thanks for all those breakfast ideas Brittney, I will definately be trying some! Especially the tacos....yum! For dinner tonight? I think I'll have Asparagus and cheddar cheese stuffed chicken breast and cheese topped broccoli and cauliflower. Since some of us are having some trouble with veggies...... how about we make a Tuesday Goal of trying a new "legal veggie"? And then we can post what we tried and how it turned out. Anyone up for it? It could be fun! Then tomorrow someone else can pick a Wednesday goal.....and then Thursday......and so on. I think it could be something fun to look forward to checking the forum to see what the goal is for the day. PLUMMER First, make sure that you are counting each splenda packet as one carb.....I too have a problem with plain water, have you ever tried hot water? Heat it up, you may be amazed! Maybe even throw in a caffeine free tea packet. But definately try heating it up first.....I could never drink cold water either....yuk! But heat it up and....yum! Have a great rest of the day everyone!
