| You're right. It's not on the foods that are safe for induction. Wait until you get to the nuts and seeds rung (rung 3) |

| Though Dr Atkins did list it among the nuts/seeds, it is in fact a legume - like soya beans. I waited till the legumes rung to introduce peanuts back into my menus.

| You know, I've met a lot of folks that have thought the same thing I did when I first thought peanuts were nuts before I had a chat with a great friend who kindly corrected me that peanuts were legumes...isn't that funny? I still can't figure out why, but it has to do something with them growing on a bush instead of tree...neat huh? |

| I wish we could have peanut butter, but unfortuantly not yet. When you finish reading the book you'll know so much more. The first time I did this I only read what I had to know, mostly what foods to eat on induction and I didn't do that well. This time I'm reading the whole book and I can't believe how much information I missed the first time. When you decide to start on OWL you can eventually get peanut butter back.

(Edit): The peanut (Arachis hypogea) is actually a seed with a papery seed coat, typically two seeds enclosed in a dehiscent pod called a legume. After fertilization, the flower stalk of the peanut curves downward, and the developing fruit (legume) is forced into the ground by the proliferation and elongation of cells under the ovary. The peanut pod subsequently develops underground. So, we were both kinda right! cheers, Sue |
