| I am not an expert but here is my opinion. There are people out there who believe that you can confuse your metabolism by going on and off diets to lose weight at a more rapid rate. My thought is that you are not addressing the main issue of the weight gain in the first place. It takes time for your body to lose weight in a healthy manner. You also need to retrain your mind and change your habits to better ones. Yes, in the short term , you will probably lose weight. I am concerned that in the long term, it will cause more weight gain and may not be the best for your health. Just my 2 cents.

| There are some plans that call for a carb filled day and it must work for some. I can't do it because I eat anything carbie and I get horrid cravings, but if it works for you, try it. We all have to find what works best for us |

| Dr Atkins specifically warns against this in the book. It is more likely to make you resistant to weight loss than anything else and is certainly a poor long term plan. Do you want to lose weight quickly or permanently - because it's a choice.

| I agree, you need to learn how to eat right or losing the weight won't really matter because it will not be permanent. More than likely, each time you do induction you will lose less and less. I have done the diet like that before and now that I am doing it right, I am learning why I should have done it right all along. I am losing slowly and I am paying for my past mistakes. My body doesn't trust me any more. As far as you not wanting to be "rude" and eating, would you rather be polite or healthy? Now that I am doing the diet right, I have found that there are plenty of ways to refuse food and not be rude. I personally used to use that as an excuse to cheat. |
