Default ketosis question

This is my 3rd day in induction. I have tried to keep my carbs under 20 but havnt been to strict about it like measuring stuff and all that. I just kinda guess and keep it below 20. I Got some keto sticks last night and tested and it was very light well I did it again today to see and it was darker. So I am in ketosis. My question is if I happen to go over a couple carbs but am still in ketosis am I doing ok? Will I still lose weight?

The answer is I haven't a clue. Keto sticks never worked for me. I do know that it doesn't matter if your very light or very dark except if your dark you probably aren't drinking enough water. They show that your spilling fat into your urine, but it might not be body fat, it might be that butter you put on the veggies last night.
Yea, if you start eating carbs you will go out of ketosis but how many it takes, can't help you there.

The ketostix aren't really a good way to determine if you are in ketosis or not. I mean, if you want to check, by all means, do it. But don't put all your faith in them and don't be too discouraged if they test negative. The real test of whether you're in ketosis or not is are you losing weight and inches. Also, you'll get what is called ketosis breath.

As for going over, honestly, one or two carbs isn't going to kill you. I had about 30 yesterday (Good Friday, so I wasn't allowed to eat any meat), and I was still burning fat. I think it all depends on your body. The reason induction limits your carbs so much isn't that you need to have under 20 to lose weight. It's just to help you get over your body's carb addiction. As long as you don't binge and you stay relatively close, you should be alright.

The great thing about induction is that as long as you are following the rules of eating the proper amounts of veggies, limiting sweeteners, eating only induction-legal foods, etc. you really don't need to count carbs too strictly as you are probably going to be under 20 carbs...however, you should really get into the habit of counting your carbs because you will need to do this in OWL. I highly recommend fitday.com or you could keep a food journal by hand.

The number of carbs you can eat and still be in ketosis depends on how high a CCLL (critical carb level for losing) you have, so exceeding 20 net carbs occasionally wont mess things up I am sure.

As you climb the OWL ladder and add more carbs you will learn what your own CCLL is - some people have a CCLL of over 100, particularly if they exercise a lot!!

I found using fitday.com was the easiest way of keeping track.
