Default Re: Mayonaise

Yes, it's allowed. Just make sure it is full fat mayo as the 'light' ones are full of sugar. Also check the label for sugar. Hellmanns is fine, but there are ones with less/no sugar. Dukes is, I beleive, one in the USA. Lidl Mayo is good in Europe.

I use Hellmans, but see there is some sugar in the ingredients. Is this ok or should I make my own. I don't think here in Canada we have those brands that you listed. I probably would have to look for the organic kind if any.

What are your suggestions on this?

Thanks.

Default Re: Mayonaise

There is a sticky at the top of this forum about net carbs and added sugars. It says that as long as the sugar in the mayo is near the bottom of the list of ingredients, it is OK. Just make sure to count the carbs. Fitday counts 1 carb per 2 tablespoons.

Default Re: Mayonaise

We dont seem to have any truly sugarfree mayo over here in UK either, but I discovered that the Vitakrone (I think) one from Lidl (not the reduced fat one but the fullfat one) has only 0.9 carbs per 100 ml (3.5 ounces or 7 tablespoons) so check the labels on non-Hellmans mayo to see if you can get a lower carb one too.
