According to the book Induction is safe for 6 months. However, the book also states that people who do not have a high metabolic resistance to weight loss have no additional benefits of continuing Induction beyond the forst 2 weeks. We have noticed on ADBB that this is true--the folks who have an average to low metabolic resistance to weight loss hit a stall if they extend their Induction too long and it's only broken when they move to OWL phase, as recommended in the book. There is no guarantee that your rate of loss will continue at its present speed. Some people experience a "post Induction stall" during the 3rd to 6th week of the Diet. Dr. Atkins explained this on one of his videos as your body equalizing itself.

| By the way, a 20 pound weight loss as you experienced is not considered "average" metabolic resistance to weight loss. Indeed, you have low (very low) metabolic resistance to weight loss based on your numbers.

| It is safe to stay on induction, generally people who have large amounts of weight tend to stay on a little longer. With that said, while you should continue to lose weight (everyone is different), it will most likeyly not be at the rate you lost for the first two weeks. In regards to your goals, you may get there within 6 weeks, but I have to admit that you have set a pretty tough goal, but truly everyone is different. Your most important things will be eating proper, exercise and water. Good luck. |
