alfalfa sprouts -- not leafy daikon --- not leafy mushrooms --- not leafy arugula endive parsley bok choy escarole peppers --- not leafy celery --- not leafy fennel --- not leafy radicchio chicory jicama --- not leafy radishes --- not leafy chives lettuce romaine lettuce cucumber --- not leafy mache sorrel So from the "salad list" there are 9 veggies that are not the leafy ones you hate with a passion. From those 9 non-leafy veggies, I see lots of eating potential Alfafa: salads, stir fries, omelets Daikon: chopped in salads, stir fries, boiled/steamed and mashed like potatoes, sliced into match-sticks and mixed with mayo for a "slaw" Mushrooms: raw in salads; or cooked in omelets, stirfries. Also marinated and served warm or cold. Peppers: raw in salads, cooked in stirfries or omelets, cooked as part of a vegetable medley, stuffed with cheese or meat and baked or stewed. Celery: raw in salads, raw as a "slaw", cooked in stirfries, cooked or braised. Fennel: raw in salads. cooked---sauteed or baked with heavy cream(!) Jicama: raw or cooked Radishes: raw in salads, raw as a "slaw"; cooked as a potato-like substitute. Cucumber: raw in salads or cooked (yeah, it's a classic French accompaniement to fish.) As for the leafy veggies, if you are willing to give them a try, try them lightly sauteed. Sauteeing them makes them more digestible and changes their taste to being somewhat sweeter. By the way, I think bok choy tastes best when it is cooked---sauteed with a little bacon and garlic. Parlsey and chives are herbs but they make nice "pestos" to serve along side chicken, fish or seafood.

| You know, I never thought of myself as a 'veggie person' before this WOE (unless you count french fries!), but I think once you clean the poison carbs out of your system, your taste buds change. I know that sounds crazy, but give it a shot! Induction is only two weeks, then OWL rung one is 5 more veggie carbs and you could just add more of what you like. After that, its nuts, berries, grains, etc.... You owe it to yourself and your health to give this a shot! |

| I'm not a big fan of salads in general, but I have found ways to add my veggies to my meat dishes so that they aren't so obviously staring at me on the plate! Cucumbers and peppers are my friends...

| This probably sounds mean but uh... you're overweight because you've been eating stuff you 'like' for years. If you ever want to be a thin, healthy person, you're going to need to mature your taste buds and enjoy healthy food. You're trying to lose weight, not bake a birthday cake. Sometimes its good for you to eat things you dont 'like'.

| oh wow...how profound...the depth of your wisdom knows no bounds. Do you not fricken think i want to eat that food.. I WANT TO. It makes me sick...literally. Also thanks for reminding me that Im not trying to bake a cake. Ive been standing in the kitchen for hours trying to figure out how to turn arugula into a nice moist carrot cake. You know...if you want to help, then help. if you want to be a smart a, then just keep it to yourself. thanks to all the people who have offerned encouragement and useful advice. Quote:

| umm... Are you serious? If you come here looking for advice and then go and insult people for trying to help you then find somewhere else to go. We're all here to help each other, and that means help each other have both physical and mental shifts in order to loose weight and be healthy. You're not the only one who finds it hard to eat those things. The difference is that other people who are dedicated and motivated push themselves to new boundaries to achieve their goals, appreciate the support and advice of others and change their eating habits accordingly. Feelings of physical illness upon eating salad veggies is a mental block, not a physical issue. You need to embrace a mindset change to accomplish your goals. Thank you for being sarcastic, rude and obnoxious to me for trying to help you. You've made me feel great.
