Hi there,

I came home from work yesterday and as i do every friday went straight for a vodka..which i normally mix with diet cola..I had some coke zero in the fridge and threw some into the drink. I drank it with pure guilt...every mouthful was agony..I went to get a second and poured the vodka, then added tap water and a drizzle of the diet soda, took one sip and poured it down the sink...I actually didnt want it!

I think if you really want to have a drink do but you may find that half way through your body tells you dont actually want it...your cravings are subsiding which is what i make of what happened me...I would normally be miserable if i didnt have my friday few drinks

Its your diet and your life so try not to feel guilty about it or let other peoples opinions upset you... Your either following the diet strictly or loosly... either way will benefit your health once you are eating better than you were before hand.

Best of luck and keep strong.....

That's so true! I always want bread when I'm hungover! I always justified that by thinking that the bread would just absorb the excess alcohol, but I'm not really sure why. Also, I'm like you where I go off plan, like getting really hungry after a night out and drinks and simply not caring about all the effort thus far and just wanting that burger and fries LOL. Although, you and I are probably on the same boat altogether, I'm in Vegas as well

Nice way to keep brand new members, delete their third post without explanation.

I think it was deleted because it referred to drugs...is that not understandable? It could be taken in many contexts so I assume thats why it was removed.

What did it say? I can't even remember, It couldn't have been that bad for crying out loud.

I've run community forums for more than a decade. You don't delete someone's post lightly or without an explanation.

You were sent a PM with an explanation, and if anyone repeats what you said, it will be deleted as well. We value any helpful posts that do not go against the TOS. We value all of our members too much to allow posts that do not conform to the TOS and cause the thread to be locked or deleted.

The OP asked an honest question and deserves to have viable suggestions and comments in reply.

Sunny!

The question then becomes, if you're fat enough to have to go on a weight loss diet, why would you want to do anything to delay losing your fat? Why would you want to do anything to potentially sabotage your weight loss effort? Is having a drink more important to you then losing weight and getting healthy? Those are the questions you have to ask yourself. If you aren't worried about delaying your weight loss or you aren't concerned that you are sabotaging your efforts or a drink is more important to you than losing weight and getting healthy, then you'll drink whether it delays your weight loss or not.
whoa! talk about judgemental. Just because someone has a drink, doesn't mean they care more about alcohol than getting healthy! In fact red wine has a lot of health benefits. Also, it isn't necessarily sabotaging for some people. For some people, starving themselves of certain things can lead to sabotage. If having a drink every once in a while, makes it so you can incorporate the diet into your life without growing resentment toward it, then so be it.

I enjoy having a drink with my boyfriend every now and again, especially on vacation or on a hot summer day. I understand that I will lose the weight more slowly, but it also allows me to not feel so restricted. I tried going about atkins without drinking at all. I sat at the bar drinking water on my friends' birthdays while everyone was having drinks, secretly cursing atkins on the inside, which ultimately lead to my demise. Eventually i thought "F this diet! I can't have any fun, I feel so restricted!!" and threw it out the window. I'm having a lot more success now, that I allow myself to have a drink from time to time, with the understanding that it'll just take me longer to get to my goal weight. I don't think Dr. Atkins would say that people who drink alcohol are sabotaging themselves, or choosing alcohol over health, i mean...there's an alcohol rung for crying out loud!

I think if you're an alcoholic and get the shakes when you don't drink, then that's all the more reason to NOT drink!!!
