Default Not losing weight...it's a mystery!?!

Hi everyone!
Very excited to be here...I have been reading the board every day and thought I would join up.
I already have a question....

I have been on induction (clean) for the past 16 days and have not lost a pound (or Kilo where I come from)!!!

I am strict with myself...I dont drink diet soda or add splenda to stuff.
I do have about 1/4 cup of cream occasionally (adds up in my decaf coffee, which I only have every once in awhile, and if I make a creamy dinner) but other than that I can not see what I am doing wrong.
I drink about 4 cups of herbal tea per day (0.1gms of carbs per cup) and almost 2 ltrs of water per day.
I have 2 eggs with a little cheese for brekky.
A couple slices of cheese & ham to snack on.
Mince meat (with a bit of spinach and cream, mexican spices and a couple of mushrooms) for lunch most days.
Prawns & fish or steak with salad for dinner.

My pee stick....ketostick has been in a darkish pink colour every time I test it too.

I guess I am just a slow loser....its getting a bit frustrating

What do you guys think??
Any suggestions?

Tash79-
Hello and welcome! Here are a few ideas:
-You don't have a lot to lose (15kg), so that is a factor re: how much you will lose on Induction (5-10% of 15kg).
-Did you take your measurements? Are your clothes bigger? You are probably doing well in that department.
-How about adding 2 cups of salad and a cup of veggies to your diet?
-Are you drinking 8 glasses of water? Does the water go down the drain counter-clock-wise in your sink? (ok just checking lol.)
-What exercise are you doing? Do you want to enter a challenge like the mileage one? Walking to running is a great one.
Keep us posted.
Glenn

Wow that was a quick reply Gman!

I dont have heaps to lose I know...I thought that may have been a factor.
I didnt take measurements (naughty) My happiest was when I was 62kg's (about 18 months ago) so that is what I am aiming for....thought I may take my measurements if this is what will show my progress better than the scales.

Salad and Veges...I'm already onto it, I love my veges so I have had to limit my intake of Broccoli and Cherry tomatoes..but am def eating a good amount, more veg than salad as it's the middle of winter over here.

I drink about 2 liters (8 cups) of water per day...I have a bottle on my desk at work and I make sure it is empty by the time I head home...sometimes madly sculling it...which is a bad idea as I am always busting for the loo by the time I get off the bus haha.

Ok this is the bit that's working against me...excercise!
I hate it, always have always will....I love reading, writing, going out for dinner, hanging out with friends, stuff like that...I'm just not sporty.
I do Pilates once or twice a week...but have a reoccuring shoulder injury so haven't been since starting Atkins.
I know I know...I should start going for walks/jogs.

I'm just starting out with the C25K challenge (details at c25k.com) which claims to take a couch potato and turn him or her into a 5K runner in only 9 weeks. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of exercise either, but I couldn't resist seeing if a program like this could work on a couch potato like me! I have often heard that exercise becomes critical as you get closer to your goal weight, and I'm guessing 15 kilos makes you a candidate. Good luck!

P.S. Although I have heard it before, your signature quote made me laugh this morning!

Hi Tash79,

Don't lose hope! Like the others noted, you're going to be noticing the changes (loss in weight & inches) much more slowly because you're not too far away from your weight goal. Measure yourself as soon as possible and write it down so you'll see a positive change within the next 2 weeks.

I'm with you on hating exercise, but it's something we have to do if we want results. Can you find any way to make it more bearable, by adding your favorite music, bringing along a buddy, rewarding yourself (with jewelry or clothes, etc., not food) when you reach a goal, or something like that? I made a deal with my husband that he'd buy me the Journey diamond necklace once I've lost 20 lbs., and then matching earrings when I get to 45 lbs! :0)

Good luck!!

Tash
Do you use fitday? I would be interest to hear how many calories, carbs, fat and protein you eat every day. Fitday makes it easy to calculate.

Exercising may help you boost your metabolism? So it is worth a shot. There are many kinds to try so there may be something you like out there.

Hmmm c25k sounds interesting...I like the sound of the podcasts...I def find good music makes exercise easier. I gave up smoking recently (4 months ago) so should be much less daunting going for a jog now.

I wonder if my boy will buy me something special when I hit my goal weight??? I am going to run it by him tonight, jogging towards a faulous new hand bag would certainly help me keep my focus! haha

I haven't used fitday but I do log my carbs on the Atkins Carbcounter 2.
Is this similar??
It's fabulous because I can fiddle with the carbs amounts depending on the item I'm eating!
Very easy to use.

I am not going to weigh myself for 2 weeks, hopefully there will be a change by then.
Also cutting out cream and cream cheese, I dont really eat much of those things but I have read on the forums that they can stall some people.
